Thanks for the coffee Shad. That article makes it sound like everything is still pretty much undecided there.
Well, it's the Guardian pertnear09 and it's editorial style is soft, PC and a bit left wing.
So, abject terror and dismay on the part of the ex pats might be a bit of an exaggeration.
But, it is pretty clear from whoever one reads that the status of many UK subjects living abroad hasn't been properly considered and there are no plans in place regarding what to do with the thousands that may return to the UK if the EU countries become difficult regarding things like citizenship, property ownership, pensions, banking etc.
The usual advice from the British goevernment is as usual; stick your head up your arse and cross your fingers.

afternoon all! Being many hours ahead of y'all (well, most of you anyway), I've just finished my chores and shopping :wee so can now sit down with a nice cup of tea and catch up on all the goings-on on BYC :)

Don't worry Shad; I can't imagine the Spanish will penalize Brits living there by e.g. retracting property rights, whatever the British Govt do. A distinction may be drawn between those already there, like you, and those who move there later, but that shouldn't impact you either. How do the locals treat you? Presumably they do not hold you responsible for the vote in 2016? I haven't seen it yet but the Guardian has another item entitled
European dramas. Spain: 'Europe's one big scam'
and there are a lot of tensions over a number of items, so Brexit's not the sole focus now.
