I did - yesterday. I tried to use a brooder plate in the brooder tonight but I didn't feel like it got quite warm enough - I put a thermometer under it for 30 minutes and it never got above 80F
I am going to use the heat lamp again until I figure the brooder plate out. (it's attached the a ladder rung with it's clamp which has 4 zip ties holding it closed and around the rung of the ladder. Even with all that securing - I don't like using a heat lamp - but I also don't want my chicks to get too cold
I use hardware cloth and a heating pad without auto of. Make a tent of it.
