Hope everyone dealing with the Hurricane is staying safe and dry!

@Sequel so sorry to hear about losing your last favorite bird. Sux doesn't it?

I've had a rotten year as far chickens are concerned. I've lost ten so far. Four roosters to a fox, two hens to some sort of reproductive infection, one hen to a broken leg, one that just dropped over dead one day, one to heat stroke. And another one that I can't remember why she fell over dead but she did.....

Hatched 11 chicks from my bantams. Got 5 pullets and 6 cockerels from that hatch.

It's just been a weird year poultry raising wise. On the bight side, none of them died from Marek's disease!

Good morning all have my coffee birds out at 8:30, rained in the night.
I did bring more coffee.
The ones I lost where my old birds.
One I took the head off.

Our brief stint of late afternoon spritzing is over and we're off to a predicted near record-breaking 98 degrees. Will the joys of Hell ever end? Got outside early and did watering chores, harvested half a trug of tomatoes from the veggie compound, gave all the chickens bunches of grapes and have headed inside now for a siesta.
We stayed up late watching a movie and unfortunately I awoke with less than 5 hours of sleep under my belt. Tail feathers are dragging and DH has sent me to my room for a nap. *IF* I were young, that may've sounded like a punishment. At present it's a luxurious reprieve.
