Good morning everyone! Always thought it was interesting how people have such different likes and dislikes with foods. My granddaughter won’t eat noodles or pasta of any kind, even as a baby she’d gag on it. I think it’s a textural thing with that one. I was always hungry as a kid so I never complained about the food. We only had dessert on Sundays and holidays and my mom was a great baker!

Some of it is differences in the way we taste things. There are Genes for tasting soap in cilantro for example and the ability to taste bitter is determined by Genes.

Good morning Sequel :frow, I would never have thought about not eating what mom made. You ate what was put on your plate and didn't complain.
Good morning Grammy! It was easier for me because I was always hungry. One of my sisters would complain occasionally but you know we just didn’t have the choices back then! And the tiny refrigerator! No wonder there was no Costco back then! :gig

My sisters stopped by and one of them actually brought that up. She just did 23 and me so was talking about the cilantro thing. I think it tastes like soap but I like it anyway. :gig I also adore green olives, which I always chop into my green salad. I’ve also heard that as you age you better tolerate bitter but I’ve always loved green olives so I think I’m just a glutton!

I got over Cilantro tasting like soap too! I still do not like it in large amounts though

That was the way I was raised. The only problem I had was liver . 😧 I could not stand the taste of liver. 😦 I would cut it up in very small pieces less than the size of a pea. I would put the small bites in a spoonful of mashed potatoes. As I chewed the liver got bigger and bigger. The least I can say is that I don't eat liver, but I will cook it for my husband.
