Cold out there 25°F and 10-15mph wind...might wait until tomorrow to clear ~5" of snow off the driveway....tho I'm almost out of milk(for my coffee) and snacks.

I found more lumps on Fuji. I took her in last night to get them needle aspirated. I knew before the vet got back that the one on her side over her ribs was another MCT because it swelled up to more than twice it's size after getting stabbed. It is. She has another tiny one on her chest. Tiny or no, they leave huge scars when removed because the surgeon has to take such a large margin.
Fuji also has a wart on her right forearm that she's been chewing on that the vet thinks should come off if I do the surgery.
Problem is, Fuji has a heart problem and is on medication. Her Holter monitor revealed a max heart rate of 215 bpm. She is on Sotolol to control that but she still has the following issues:

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) - focal atrial tachycardia​

Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease - Stage B1​

So my vet wants Cornell to do the surgery. I am waiting for an estimate. I'm guessing it will be in the $1,500 range. I'll have to think on this. Fuji is asymptomatic and 13.5 years old.

It is hard to decide. Why does vetting have to cost so much?

This is why I will not be getting more dogs or a cat when the ones I have pass. I will just have one Dobie and my chickens.
The vet I used for decades was very reasonable and affordable and everyone in the area was on a waiting list trying to become a client.
Then the owner retired and sold the practice. Up went the prices so the new ownsers could expand the practice and double the size of the staff and building. I'm not so convinced the quality of the care doubled with the size & staff. They are, after all, refusing to do the surgery when the original vet did the same surgery just over 2 years ago to remove that last two MCTs. And her heart was bad then and she wasn't on the Sotolol. Her cardiologist at Cornell said she would give an anesthesia protocol if required.

OhMan!! I can't imagine having that on my plate.
One reason I don't want more dogs, can't afford to vet them.

Same here...and he was down to earth and practical,
not trying to sell every drug and procedure possible using fear tactics.
New vet is an ass.
