Morning. Bummed out today because 3 of my chicks died within 48 hours. I've raised chicks few times before and this has never happened. Thinking they might had a diseases from the place I bought them from.

So my coffee will last bitter over the loss.
Chicks from farm stores have already undergone shipping stress. Often the set ups to keep chicks in are less than ideal. Then they get further stressed by being transported home. Did you give chick saver or other vitamin in their water? Were they warm enough where you keep them? Diseases are less likely in chicks because they have not been around long enough to develop disease unless they were hatched with it. And then the chicks would keep on dying if they were all sick. Just a few points to help others you might buy. So sorry to hear you lost some.

This was a private breeder that I went to and picked out my own chicks. All various ages. I had them for 2 weeks before this happened. They were warm enough and their poop was normal and appetite. Thinking they could have been born with it. This isn't my first time raising chicks but even seasoned breeders can have issues.

Yes, not all chicks will survive to become adults.

I've had my Fayoumi hens sequestered with tut my EF rooster for four weeks this coming Wednesday so I'm going to start gathering eggs from them on Thursday.

My Brinsea mini with the turner in it will hold 7 eggs and they have been laying regularly 2 eggs one day and 1 egg the next so that will give me plenty of time to pick and choose eggs for the bator.

C'mon guys, join the fun.

I'm going to watch along, instead of hatch along. (One letter different.) I'm not getting any chicks this year, most likely, so I'll enjoy looking at everyone else's flufferbutts.
I understand, Sally. I did that last year. Felt too bad to add any more birds to my flock. I was tempted to sell my incubator but my husband urged me not to saying he bet I would feel better this year and want to have more fun this spring.

He was right!
