Good morning, all. I'm brand spankin' new to the coffee club, though I've occasionally read posts on Backyard Chickens site off and on for years. I came in looking for info on introducing a rooster to a flock Now as a chick (getting 25 baby pullets from a hatchery this week), vs waiting till they are mature. Got the info (thanks!), still undecided!

I've had chickens off and on since I was a kid, most recently about 50 Cinnamon Queens. But I sold them all a few years ago when I got out of selling eggs. I've missed having chickens ever since, and It's Time! Because I ordered to receive them before April 1, I had to order 25, but only plan to keep about half of them and sell the rest.

Anyway, that's a tiny bit about me by way of introduction. Have a lovely day! (presently 50 and sunny here in north central Arkansas. The weather, that is. I'm 59 and... Mostly sunny as well! 😊)

Good morning folks! Chilly morning here but supposed to e yoyoing temp wise all week. Sure will be glad when spring settles in and stays.

I've been outside bundled in robe to let the free ranging roosters out. Couldn't find one. he was hiding in the bachelor coop thinking I wouldn't find him. He was wrong, I did. How he got in there I have no idea but he was screaming indignantly at me when I dragged him out by his heels and tossed him in the yard and told him to go eat bugs and grass like a real chicken.

That second refill of coffee was very welcomed when I came back in.

Today is day three of my Fayoumi eggs. Couldn't resist candling a few looking for early veining! Sure enough, I gots little spidies starting in at least 6 of 8:wee

Welcome to the coffee club and BYC :frow

Maggie just had a major seizure. Heard thrashing in the dining room and thought that the Princess had gotten up and that Maggie was greeting her. Instead I found her thrashing on the floor. I've had dogs with seizures before and generally can ease/talk them out of the seizure. Didn't work with her. As she was coming out she started screaming and tried to bite me. I think she thought I was causing the seizure. She was scared of me for a bit, but now is extremely clingy. I've called our vet and am waiting for a call back. This scared/scares me, and I don't scare easily when it comes to my animals.

I'm late, and Lord knows I need coffee. I have brewed some. Lousy start to the day, but things are calming down.
Have you been to the clinic yet?

Yes. Blood sugar, heart, abdominal palpation all normal. Drew blood - will have results tomorrow. Diagnosis - idiopathic epilepsy - aka - we don't know what the heck caused it. Right now she is fine/the Princess and I are wrecked.
I would imagine so probably harder on you two then on her.
