Good morning, all. I'm brand spankin' new to the coffee club, though I've occasionally read posts on Backyard Chickens site off and on for years. I came in looking for info on introducing a rooster to a flock Now as a chick (getting 25 baby pullets from a hatchery this week), vs waiting till they are mature. Got the info (thanks!), still undecided!

I've had chickens off and on since I was a kid, most recently about 50 Cinnamon Queens. But I sold them all a few years ago when I got out of selling eggs. I've missed having chickens ever since, and It's Time! Because I ordered to receive them before April 1, I had to order 25, but only plan to keep about half of them and sell the rest.

Anyway, that's a tiny bit about me by way of introduction. Have a lovely day! (presently 50 and sunny here in north central Arkansas. The weather, that is. I'm 59 and... Mostly sunny as well! )

@sourland so sorry to hear about Maggie having problems. It's scary, I know, and you feel so helpless.

Idiopathic means simply that they don't know the cause. Hopefully they will get her on anti-seizure medicine and she will be her old self again.

I'm a 'fixer', and generally can fix whatever is wrong with my animals, but seizures are a different sort of beast. Thankfully I have a veterinarian who knows that when I call the problem is real.

That is so important, Sour. We are changing vets because of that very thing.

Our vet here failed to respond to our pleas when our Sidney fell ill last year. We never bother them unless we have to and given that we are both medical professionals,, you would think that we we said that our girl was seriously ill they would have responded better than they did. But they didn't and she wound up suffering days longer than she should have.

I need to deal with Drs. that when I say help, they take me seriously.

Good morning everyone. Working on my third refill of coffee this morning. Next three days are rainy here.

7 of the 8 eggs in my incubator are developing nicely. I had to pitch one this morning due to the dreaded ring of death appearing.

4 days down and 17 more to go!
