Good morning! Well last night I was a little late locking up and something got one of my older laying hens. Two piles of feathers and bloody feathers stuck to the wire says raccoon. I have unsecure fencing strung to let them have pasture during the day when I’m home. I should have been on time!

Darn it I am sorry!

Very fine mist put a hoodie on went out back in not wet.
Coffee in spades really need it this morning.

2 hens lost in two days! Yes! He came back and got another one! I was going to shut that part of early this afternoon but the little jerk beat me to it. This one made me mad, he got my Cheryl. Anyhow a couple of crows were talking quite loudly so I said show me where he is! I swear one crow jumped from one branch to another and pointed out that raccoon sleeping boldly draped over a branch.
I believe he had lead poisoning poor bugger!

Replace it all with hardware cloth please.

My actual chicken pen does have hardware cloth and electric fencing. This part I just scabbed on to give them more grass and weeds. I think DH will help me extend properly though. I’ve been lucky but that runs out eventually.

I understand that... I have had two die in shell I have never had this bad luck in the incubator.
I did bring coffee to share!
