OK so is this literally the same as the spent grounds you can get in bulk for free at coffeshops? If so, do you just mix it in with your other litter materials? Does anyone know if it works with DLM in the coop, or run, or both?

I'm in Tallahassee also and was debating on whether to use coffee grounds or sand. Right now I have just dirt but since I clean my coop weekly I'm afraid I'm going to end up in China soonOk addedI'm in Tallahassee, FL so it gets pretty hot and humid.
This is an old post but people are responding about using their kitchen grounds and it's worth noting that the ground used in this product have very little to no caffeine and therefore are not toxic like the coffee grounds we produce in our home kitchens. Seems like a nice deodorizer. If someone is already springing for something like PDZ can't see why it would hurt to mix some of this in.Hello! New to this forum so I'm going to take advantage of all your collective expertise and ask many questions! First being my coop is on the earth and I just add my hay and toss it around a bit to do the whole deep litter method. I was running low on my hay and ordered (admittedly by accident) Grounds - where it's old coffee grounds used. I've read reviews how people swear by this...Seems odd to me and maybe not really for me since I am doing the deep litter method...I actually thought it was hay but then when I went to pick it up...coffee grounds. They sell it at Tractor supply so I"m just curious who here has used it? Is it worth using? SHOULD it be used seeing that my coop is on the ground? I attached a pic of my coop so you can see what I'm talking about.
I think it's been mentioned more than once in this thread that there is little to no caffeine left in used grounds.I would worry about the residual caffeine left in the grounds - chickens will inevitably eat them. I seem to remember that In many of my early readings of what chickens can and cannot eat - all said that coffee/tea are not good for chickens.
Can someone who is knowledgeable about food for chicken chime in?
@rosemarythyme what do you use.I have to admit it appeals to me just because mmm, coffee, but I can't convince myself to pay for bedding.![]()
