Coffee's ready...

Math ace maybe you should look at the private sector. Math is a very important skill and the remuneration is rewarding.

Afternoon folks, Couldn't sleep last night so got up and listened to Allister Begg, Truth for Life on the computer. "Asking God for Wisdon". Lord knows I can use it with the stuff going on around here.

Karl, I have to say I don't miss those days. All four of ours went to a Christian Academy. Living Word. Don't miss the uniforms and tuition but all received superior educations.

It's interesting you should mention Cowboy boots, my son had a pair that he slept in. Wouldn't take them off.

On a gardening note tomatoes ripening and I froze the first batch yesterday. Any special recipes anyone has for canning/freezing tomatoes. You know special things addes like garlic or onions or spices? I have some green peppers any special way to freeze them? These are not the usuall store type green sweet pepper. More shaped like hot peppers.

Take care and have a nice day folks

Morning People,

Running late, but the coffee's made. Breakfast might be on the road today.

weather: mid 80's, clear

Day off today, so we'll be taking a bike ride somewhere.

Rancher: I just put the basic herbs in our sauce (basil, oregano, thyme, parsley). When I prepare it for a meal, I'll add more ingredients, depending on how I want it at the moment. You have yourself a herb garden? Nothing like fresh herbs. I never froze green peppers.

One thing I am trying this year, I froze some horse radish root. I'll grind it late and see if it is still hot. Has anyone tried this?

Enjoy the day

Kaj

Good Morning from NE Ohio. It's a beautiful Saturday morning.

Finishing my morning coffee and daily BYC fix.

Heading out to pick what is ready in the garden before the rain comes today, will be canning away in the garage all afternoon.

Have a great day everyone!

Green peppers (or really any type)- DW likes to chop them, spread them on parchment paper on a cookie sheet and then freeze them. She will then bag them up in convenient sizes (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, etc) in zip-top bags and toss in the freezer. When it's time to make a sauce with them, just dump them in straight from the bag. Any time DW freezes tomatoes, it's always with garlic and onions - even if it nothing more that clean and quarter the tomatoes and throw them in a quart/gallon freezer bag straight into the freezer, skin, seeds and all. Makes for a tasty, robust chili base in February.

X 2. This is how I do green bell peppers. I would think all peppers would be processed the same. If I have a casserole receipe or any other "cooked" recipe that calls for chopped green pepper - - - Bamm , I am ready for that !

We went to the Farmers Market yesterday. Everything was HIGH and most was OLD.

I truly believe on Fridays, they push all the OLD veg. that they haven't been able to move all week. On SAT there are LARGE crowds at that market and I believe that is when they bring out the fresh produce. Any time I have gone on a Friday, the produce has always looked old. One guy was trying to sell cucumbers that had the white mold growing on them. Another vendor was trying to sell yellow squash that squished when it was lightly pinched / squeezed.

Needless to say, it was disappointing. My friend had never been on Fridays before, so she didn't believe me when I warned her.

NOW, she does believe and has commited to Saturday only shopping trips.

Good Morning! I am actually on here in the morning, sharing my coffee with all of you fine folks.

math ace - I think the teachers were already having to do that stuff, but it didn't sound like they have to do it quite to that extent. The lesson plan sheets they do are a page, and the board stuff is not quite that detailed. Now we are going to add a period on to the day and provide intensive help/ tutoring to those that need it and electives to keep them interested in school. I truley believe our Principal is motivated by all the right reasons, and really like him. I have faith we can get these kids back on track. They are paying us a bonus to stay at the school, and a pay increase to do the extra period. I think I'll offer groups on stuff like anger management for my contribution during to the extra period. We've been on the front page of the paper two days in a row now. Everyone's watching.......

I got my seeds in the mail this week, but it is still so hot, I think I'll wait till mid-September to plant. I got a few varrieties of lettuce that were developed in Hawaii. I'm curious to see how they do.

THe water in the little 3-foot pool I had set up turned green. I wasn't running the pump much this week, I was so busy, so I think it's time to take that down......it's pretty gross looking.

THE BROODY IS BROKEN!!

Can't wait to get my nice white eggs again.

Have a lovely day!

Good morning! Sipping on my coffee, catching up a bit with ya'll. It's sooo quiet; everyone else is sleeping in - I like the less hectic mornings.

Spoke too soon! I hear DH stirring...have a good day

Well it is way past coffee time here!

DH and I spent the morning out and about with our disabled boy getting stuff for baby Jessica that we needed. We also managed a nice lunch out and life seems to be slowing down again a bit for us.

I might even get to see what is left alive in the yard to harvest? I like the idea of freezing the tomatos and Peppers etc. May try to make some sauces?
I have a large number of fruit bushes and trees here so will think on making jam again to.

Anyhow I see I have a bouncy chair waiting for my attention to sort with DH
Better away. - You know it isn;t that bad being grandparents really! - Costs a darn fortune though!
