Coffee's ready...

Bluebird sky here in the 70s. Second cup, coffee, light and sweet, last night was cool beautiful sleeping weather. Weather has changed the last few days, we have had a really long, dry hot summer. In July we had one day over 105 degrees. Its Labor Day monday, no work, heading outside to tend the flock, can hear the mallards squawking.

Come this way and I will set you straight . . ..

Straight to the garden for help seeding
Straight to the garage to start the weed eater and get busy
Straight to the chicken coop to put a roof on the run
Straight to the azaleas for a little hand watering
Straight to the pig pen to build a NEW LARGER dog house for them

Come on my way and I will set you STRAIGHT !

evening folks,
busy day, church has a labor day picnic. And a bake off. Lord have mercy some women just can't cook. I didn't have good time but that's life I guess.

Anyhow the BO hatched all four of the Del eggs she was sitting on so that's good.

oesdog, don't over do it. That's what I do and then I'm laid up for the next few days and get nothing done. What are you planting for the winter? Who eggs Tony Blair? I hope they were free range eggs.

Rancher - Glad your eggs hatched.

We are pretty sure the little chick Blue is a Cream Legbar which is great news as he should have the blue egg gene. I noticed today for the first time his little crown is starting to curl over Ahhhhhhhhh! I really don;t know how I will hide him as I can;t keep Roos here

We just stuck some spuds in the ground nothing fancy right now and we haven;t even thought about anything else to put in yet - ideas would be great??????
The egg thing - have no Idea but am certain chickens had a lot to do with it? -

DH and I always thought Brown had a lot to do with the problems with our economy and that he gave Blair a deal of problems. It will be interesting to read his book?

Anyhow that is me well past coffee time and Dd and Dgd are here so am away to see my princess.

Oesdog: you have to post some pics. I don't normally read political stuff but am interested in reading blairs book. I haven't seen it over here but I'm sure I can get it on line. This economy has made me pay attention to many things I didn't before. The queen mum and her princess finally went to see the other GP's yesterday. She's their first GC and so I'm glad they got to see her. Dd's been very mother hen like, even here no one gets to hold the queen's baby much. Enjoy.

Forgot to ask how do folks store there harvest for the winter? Is there anything special you do to put your garden to bed? Is there anything you feed your garden to offset the high nitrogen in chicken poop?

Love ya all

Good morning chicken wranglers
Worked on my new coop all weekend except for when I went to the reunion.Every thing is copastetic"did I spell that right?
I hope to get my girls in the new coop by fall! Hope is the key word in the phrase.Rancher looks like you and oesdog got all your chicks in a straight line.
I will try to post pics of the new coop. Ibought a storm door so I dont have to build one, also bought storm windows, and I want to wire, heat and insulate so the hens are comfy.
God Bless!

A belated good morning to you all.

Rancher - I can't really answer your question about the garden, as I am getting ready to plant mine next weekend.

It's finally feeling less humid and the temps aren't quite so high.

Gotta clean my coop out after work. Twice this weekend I had a chance to do it and one or the other of the girls was in there laying. At one point all three were in the same box! Had a really nice kayak trip, even saw a manatee.

Anyway, gotta go talk to the psychologist and interview a Russian kid to make sure he isn't suicidal, just misunderstood.

Have a good one.

Karl I hope you were able to get the door and window on CL for cheap.

chics: don't rub it in. Course I guess it gets so hot in the summer it's hard to plant? I assume your adopting? If so I hope all goes well for you.

Out to check on the girls.

ta, ta for now

I spent this weekend redoing the inside of our coop. Made a new and improved perch beam and moved their ladder to a new spot so that the birds would not poop on it so much.

Also, put on a tin roof on most of our chicken run - - - yea - - - The girls won't have to keep taking those swimming lessons.

My dad has been in the hospital for a week now. Should be coming home tomorrow. He went a round or two with blood clots in his leg.

That's it folks. I am hoping to sit a spell tomorrow and enjoy my coffee. Sure hasn't happened in over a week !

Ok Just for you Rancher - here is a pic of our Rooster chick blue - This is the cream Legbar that hopefully has the blue egg gene ????? Anyhow we know for certain his egg was blue and his name is blue so maybe one day his pullet chicks might eventually lay me blue eggs - if I can hide him that long?????
