Rancher -
I was thinking a lot about those chicks( Sorry you lost one! Omlet is still here and she got up today and walked for a while which was really good and I am hearing cherping again!!!) - Maybe you two chicks are cold???????? HAve they feathered out well???? I mean they should have by that age but some don;t as well as others? Your other bird might put up wit them and take them on but they may hurt her babies? Its a hard call altogether. Maybe she would have the gumption to drive them off and protect her own if she had to??? I feel for you. I have the opposite problem as I showed with our Bertha! She will not give up those chicks!!!!!!!! It is the most funniest thing ever to watch her hurd them into a corner at night and squish them so she can have the room to ballance precariously on the top!!!!!!

Chicks - - -
what is your weather like ? ? ? ?

Rain ? ? ?
Temp ? ? ?

I have had NO RAIN for months and my temps are running 89 - 92.
I've just increased my water time in the garden AND started some jiffy peat pots too. Somebody keeps removing the lid off my jiffy peat pots - - - (No One knows anything about it

).

My corn is doing GREAT, 4 - 5 ft tall with cobs developing.
My Green Beans are doing well Big and bushy with lots of flowers.
My watermelon plant has 3 or 4 watermelons on it.
My two eggplants are loaded with fruit.

HOWEVER, I can not get any of my fall crop seeds to germinate. Also, my squash and cucumber plants are not thriving.

Good morning chicken wranglers,
I guess i havent had much to say lately or time to say it in.One of my main guys broke his arm and now I have to do his job and mine. Not working well for me. I still dont have the new coop done and winter is going to rear her viscious head befor long.
Rancher my condolences on you loss.
Keep the java pouring .God Bless!

Morning People,
Coffee is strong and bitter, a new kind, "Tanzania". I take full responsibility, she did it.

Weather: Clear in the upper 70's to low 80's. Woke up to 60 degs.

Today will be a good day to seal my grand in laws driveway. I did ( I hope) the last mowing of the year at her place yesterday.

oesdog: The first batch of tomatoes, I made pasta sauce (gravy). This last batch, I made BBQ sauce. I thin I might hit up the local farm stand, they have paste tomatoes on sale. The ladies are going through the sauce pretty fast. I have never done anything with green tomatoes, except to compost them.

math ace: You are making me envious. All I have left are pumpkins (6) in the garden and a few green tomatoes. I wont be able to plant again until April/May. - How is you schooling going?

Enjoy your day

Kaj

Welcome to the coffee shop, Tartannick! Of all the places I have visited, Scotland was one of my favorite. My great great Grandmother was Scotish - Patterson.

Oesdog, that picture is too funny. I feel for her. That is the chicken version of myself when I have to take my son to college. I'll pack a sleeping bag to roll out on the floor of his dorm room.

My broody is still doing her job diligently. I'm so impressed by the disicpline it takes to just sit there, day after day. At least it is only three weeks, not 9 months!

Math Ace - we have had a decent amount of rain this summer. Quite a bit, actually. Last night was the first rain we got since I planted on Saturday, so I'm happy about that. It looks like either the carrots or leeks are popping up now, too. I can't remeber which row I planted which - I'm sure I'll be able to tell soon. I'm impressed your corn is growing. I tried corn last year and it was a sorry sight. One bug-infested tiny ear was all I ended up with.

Sissy - the OJ in NY would barely count as OJ for me. I'll probably skip it altogether.

I am home with my son today. His school is closed for three days for teahcer training, and they offer a "camp" for $35 a day. I paid for yesterday, but decided just to take today off and BF is always off on Fridays, so he is going to watch him then. Save my $70 for other things. Like bills. Which is what I am taking care of next. I am taking the plunge and signing up for all on-line billing and paperless statements today. I don't know what took me so long, but that is today's task, and later I'm going to clean the house. And you all have inspired me to maybe bake some bannana bread.
Have a good one!
