Picked up a big bag of scratch this spring. I don't give them any during the summer, but today was quite cool, so I grabbed a scoop... looked at it, it's moldy. Gotta dump 25 pounds of scratch. Not going to put it in the compost, wild birds might eat it. I don't know, bury it maybe?
My brother used to keep pigeons and I learned from him to keep feed in a metal garbage can not the plastic. Plastic sweats. So I keep my scratch in a metal can and dump in some DE. I mix it in since it keeps moths from laying eggs. Since I've been doing that I've had no trouble with moths.

I agree with Vehve in burying it in the compost. If you are concerned about the birds getting it you could also dump some DE on top of it then the soil.

-1C here so 20F or so.... Just wanted to whine. The chickens even look like they know the snow is coming. Parka season is upon me, and we still need 6 or more cords of fire wood. And some how the grass still needs cutting. Haha.
