Coffee's ready...

Morning people,
Looks like another nice day here. Great sleeping weather. If everything goes good, peach picking and canning this weekend. I was going to start putting in some cold weather crops. I was going replace the broccoli with spinach in the beds. The broccoli isn't doing to much. I have some collard greens and more lettuce to plant. I really have to get going on the wood for this season. Usually it's all set, but this spring was a bit hectic.

Enjoy your day

So, in addition to the €1.68, there are additional taxes?
Depending on the answer to the above question, as of yesterday, it was cheaper over there than here...unless the answer to the above is "yes"

I was surprised that in Greece, there were much larger cars than I'd expected.

Why would a car have a 1.6 liter engines. I don't understand. How does that compare to what we have here?

Too, keep in mind that Europeans don't have to drive as far. European countries are in some case smaller than some of our states. France is about the size of Montana. The whole of the U.K. is smaller than Montana. At least that's what some research says.

We don't have the mass transit systems I wish we did have. We need faster trains and more of them. IMO. For me to take a plane to Alabama cost the same as a train and the train takes 24hrs.

Forgive me for being rude, I didn't say good morning.

Sun is shining and I'd sit outside reading the paper if there were one. Our local paper only comes three times a week now.

Let the chickens out. More chicks born.

Caught a squirrel in one of my traps. He's just hanging there dead. Son of a gun got into one of the runs and coop a couple of days ago. Stole the wooden egg from the nest box. Don't know why. Also chewed into the container of feed. It's a plastic cat food jug. I repackage the feed to them to make it easier to cart to the coops.

Anyhow I've still got other traps baited. Squirrels are nasty things.

Have a good day folks,

Rancher

Quote: 1.6 liter cylinder volume, straight fours mostly, although three cylinder 1.3:s are getting more popular too. Smaller and more efficient engine = less fuel consumption (or better mileage as you would say). You can get a modern 1.6 diesel down to about 4.5 liters per 100km easily, that's about 52 MPG, and there are even more efficient engines commonly in use. Our Nissan which I consider quite thirsty does about 7 l/100km, or 33 MPG. We average about 30 000km annually, that's about 18 000 miles. Sometimes we've been up to 50 000 km.

In the states, larger engines are traditionally favored to my understanding. Maybe not the 5.7L monster V8:s anymore, but still, a lot bigger.

I don't always understand why some folks NEED such big gas burning engines.

Can't afford 2 cars so have the Dodge Grand Caravan w/the big six in it. I haul about a ton with my camping gear in a Utility trailer. Wish we could afford an about town car.
and just checked the exchange rate

Currency Calculator Converter Euro to US Dollar
1.00 EUR =1.341148 USD
Aug 09, 2014 21:25 UTC

or 1 USD = 0.745630 EUR

1.68 eur = 2.25312 USD

now 1 litre = .264 gallons so 1 gallon = 3.785 Litres

so 1 gallon of gas cost 3.785 x 2.25312 = $8.528

God help us if we get to that point here in the states. and so that's it for todays math lesson.

counting eggs is much easier now my head hurts. or is that hertz if we go to electric cars and trucks?

I too have a Caravan 2002. I wish I'd gotten the extended version like our last one and a V 6 engine. I use mine to haul chicken feed and lately a pallet or two. I used them to make a sturdier compost bins. Similar to this but mine is back up to a chain link fence and has a plywood back. I occasionally find them near by and will save them til I have enough to make something useful.
