Coffee's ready...

My tomatoes have all gone rotten from the frost .I tried to find some to treat the flock but they are brown. I did give them a pumpkin yesterday and they loved it .I dont free range them too much I have a 20 x50 foot run that they have dug all up.
When ever I head out that way they all run up to rthe fence waiting for their treats so I have to give them something even if it is only grass and weeds.

Cat is not lame - I am for letting it hold me hostage! But I've finished all my coffee and have no more excuses other than that to hold me here on BYC. So, off I go! The sun is shining, the frost is melting, chores waiting!
A neighbor commented yesterday "boy, your chickens sure do like you" She just doesn't know the greedy fluffy butts like I do, or constantly bring out leftovers.

Karl, I don't know about anyone else, But I like being called a Chicken Wrangler, cause, that is what I am. I look for your greeting every morning. It is like your signature.

Stupid Bird, Have you ever sliced and fried the sweet potatoes? They are really good that way. So are they made into french fries? I also make pie, cookies and bread, using them. Slice them thick, slice onion thick, You can add a little butter if you like. wrap in foil and grill (bake) them. I am sure you know lots of ways to cook them. I sure wish I could grow them in the desert.

:fl:fl My kitten is also on my lap. He is always wanting to walk or lay down on my keyboard. We have a little stand off every morning.

Got to run and get some work done today. I have been a slug for a couple of days. The wind blew way to hard to be digging in dirt yesterday. Maybe today, I can get my fence going and get this pen done so that I can move the playhouse/coop into the area.

Have a great day all.

What is in that Turkish Coffee?

Good morning all,
Beautiful warmish, 50's fall day here! Sun is shining, and leaves are crunching underfoot. Best time of the year! Too bad I have to spend part of it inside with a bunch of screaming children. This afternoon, I will be spending it outside that's for sure. Too bad the days get dark so early, or fall would be the best time for work outside.

Good morning to all the Keepers of a flock.

my favorite right now for all the sweet potatoes: chili oven fries - cut into wedges, toss with lots of chili powder and oil, bake in very hot oven 450-500F turning every 10 minutes until crispy outside, tender inside. Optional toss with fresh rosemary. YUM and no salt.
will post photo of the harvest as soon as I find the camera DS borrowed.

Ah I am so relieved .I retract that former statement as a misspoken moment in the history of chicken wrangling.! Forever will that particular confession haunt me.

Wow Sissy, sounds like you and hubby are not having a very good week! I hope all goes well with the Doctor. Take care and keep us posted, hopefully geek squad will get you up and running again. Have a good night.

Good Morning!
edited: I was gonna post a photo I just took, but this ancient desktop computer has NO USB port! It does, however, have 4.5" floppy drive. The photo is a sunrise behind the coop with the hens coming out the pop door pretty.
