Have a great week end.

Morning all! I'm glad it's Friday, too. Sounds like you'll be busy for a while Sissy, with all that cleanup. So sad to hear about that woman loosing her DH and DD. Just unimaginable.

We also have something gnawing it's way in our coop at nights. I think it's either a rat or a flying squirrel. Them creepy critters live in our barn. I guess I could always transfer the chickens to our other coop for a night and set a bunch of traps.

Laura, I like your idea about moving to TN. Sounds wonderful!

Well our broody lost 2 of her 12 eggs. We think they get stuck in her wings and then she comes out of her box to eat and they fall and break. I did notice that one had been developing. Oh well, I didn't expect 12 chicks! We probably put too many under her.

Might go to an auction this weekend with DS. Not much else to do.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Sissy my hens would make short work of a mouse.I'd wager that the little guy would not make it very far befor he 'd be et. They are second in favor only to frogs.Sorry to hear about all the destruction in Tenn. I used to live in Knoxville "concord really" and it was a beautiful area. I saw where nashville has gotten over a billlion dollars in damage.
I am glad that we are not getting the rain here last year was wet and cool enough that it was almost a nonsummer.Well roosters are crowin gotta go, Ya'll have a great weekend.

Good morning, Friends!

Sissy, what a terrible and tragic mess in Tennessee!

Keep up your spirits!

This morning it is rainy and cold - 46 degrees. I may have to start a wood stove fire to take the rawness off.
I am so glad that it is Saturday and I don't have to rush so. Although, this weekend I want to clean out and tidy up my two coops.
A vet from the state is coming out Monday to take blood from my birds and band them. I am getting NPIP certified. There is a grant
that makes it free. The last time I tried to get it done, many years ago, it was five dollars a bird. I just couldn't afford it.

I have onion plants and potatoes to put in the ground. But, oh!, the thought of spending hours on my knees in this cold drizzle is
not inspiring. I rather feel like burying myself under a quilt on the couch with a good book and a bowl of popcorn!

I hope your day is warm and sunny.

Good morning all you flock tenders.
Iam dragging my self to get the coffee started.
So its hot and ready for all who care to share a cup
of Maxwell house. for a change from DD
had a wonderful mothers Day
out on lake Douglas,

Yes Kismet its terrible, way to much rain.
luckly we didnt have as much as other places.
Now we have a 38 degree chilly morning and
really feels like a fall day.Had to put the stove on
to warm up a bit.
I hope all you moms had a wondeful mothers Day.

Get your coffee and enjoy.

So sorry to hear about all of the water in TN. It surely must be a mess.

I had a good Mother's Day, but woke up to my 9 year old giving me major attitude. I'm so frustrated with these kids I could scream. I worked a double shift on Saturday so these kids could have a nice vacation, and DH and I are really getting attitude from the 15 year old all of a sudden (surprise, surprise) and now my 9 year old!

Anyway, Sissy, thanks for the coffee! It hits the spot! I hope it warms up down there, it's 40 degrees here so far!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning! Bright and sunny here, but still cold - 52 degrees in the middle of a May day.

I shared my coffee this morning with a technician from the state - she came out to collect blood from all my birds (over 4 months) to test them for pullorum. That done (and I am making the assumption that I pass inspection) and I will have a NPIP flock. This means I will be able to sell eggs at the Farmers' Market and ship eggs and birds out of state. It's all very exciting (for me).

So. I am ready to make another pot of coffee. I'll take a steamy hot mug out to my coop and sit and watch my chicks play. I took the day from work because of the appointment with the technician. Now I have the afternoon free. Such a treat!

Hang tough, ChickyLaura! Don't let those kids get away with being rude to you. Some day (though sometimes you wonder when that day will ever come) they will really appreciate you and all the patience you had with them and the guidance you've given.

Good morning chicken wranglers
yesterday I turned 51. I am now resting my wheary old bones and taking inventory on lost brain cells. How many did I leave in the "70's" fewer were sacrificed in the '80's", and finally the "90's",but what? this is the teen's? no I don't remember being a teen I sacrificed too many brain cells what were we talking about anyway?

Karl, as my mother used to say regarding getting older, "The cure is worth than the disease." It would infuriate me no end.
But, take heart, there is definitely life after 51!

Good morning, all you young! chicken lovers.
