Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers
Scoop ,Kismet it is good to see you are still correspondind and i am not alone. This was a very busy weekend for me.I lost 3 pullets to a coon, may he rest in peace. He expired from lead poisoning on mon morning at 5;30 am.The gangsta took 3 pullets "not yet 8 weeks old"and 2 of them had their wings torn off but otherwise seem to be mending,
so now the count is 7 left, 2 maimed 3 dead.
I went to the Indy race on sunday and it was my 5 year old's first race expierience. He did very well "only asking if we can go home now after the first lap and in 2 second intervals throught out the race from then on".
Sat morning my heffer got out of the fence and I had to chase her back in she broke the fence down going out and getting in.
Weeded the sweet corn on monday. Was that exciting or what? How did you all do all weekend?
God bless and I look forward to hearing of your adventures!

Good morning chicken wranglers
Ordered some chicks and some geese and some turkeys, so I'll be drowning in poultry come fall.

Good day to you flock tenders,
I too have been busy have 4 new silkies and
so far 1 bantam cochin.now I am getting ready to change them
to the Brooder which will be here in my Puter room.
I cleaned out their nest boxes and coops the other day

Good morning Chicken Wranglers
Lonely here drinking coffee all by myself .Hey sissy all the flock tenders need more java to wake up on. Iam sitting at work smelling like calf. My new little one thinks I am his momma and rubs up against me and follows me around in the barn.Iwonder how I am going to make steaks out of him?

Good morning! I'm still a new egg and just found this thread while sipping my morning coffee :)

I hope everyone has a great day today!

Good morning, everyone!!! I haven't checked in for quite awhile - I've been working my rear end off. I figure take the OT while it's available, but it really does take a toll on the body. I'm now on a "break" from working OT and enjoying it.

I have too many chickens. Now I know this may surprise you, Scoop (ha ha ha). I'm thinking of selling a few at the auction, but not sure what to do. I am planning on having the roos processed when they're old enough so that will cut the population down. I do have a hard time getting rid of the pullets, though. I am very indecisive, and buying chicken feed like it's going out of style.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day! Enjoy!

ChickyLaura - Good job taking a break! The OT is nice, but you do need to rest so you don't burn out - I know from experience LOL :) I can understand your position with the pullets too - I can't even bring myself to thin my garden and pull volunteers and those are just plants!

Welcome, Way2GoMom!

ChickyLaura, I am in the same boat with too many chicks/teenagers. I sold 10 last week and that helped a lot. But I still would like to move 10 more out. Then, with the males that are left going into the freezer I will be pretty set for replacements for this year.

I am taking a personal day tomorrow - car needs a visit to the mechanic, garden still needs a few more transplants put in, house is a wreck. But I will be taking time for an extra cup of coffee - I take it out to the chick pen and watch "chicken TV" while I enjoy the hot steam an aroma. It's probably not a good idea, because the chicks are getting very friendly and used to me - it will make it that much more difficult to get rid of them. Kind of like your calf, Karl. I think calves are even cuter than chicks - such scratchy tongues!
