Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers
Shadow, I just read that in our area "Il."the crops are all stunted due to extended cool wet weather so you are not alone",not that that is any comfort!
My 16 year old daughter is in trouble! Her grades are well below the mark . I told her welcome to her remedial summer, and told her to get busy. She is going to be miserable all summer or things are going to turn around! She just will not complete a task.Yesterday I gave her the task of feeeding the chickens. Well she did not water them. I told her to clean the basement and it is not done she is going to buried so deep in work that the sun is going to half to be pumped in/.

Morning guys! I think I need to send good vibes to you all. Karl, you got your hands full for sure! Have another cup of coffee and breathe deep! I'll be doing the same believe me. I actually know where the lice came from. When we had little Blizzard in the basement he was surrounded by firewood that had wood lice in it. (We didn't realize it right away) So we think he took it out to the coop. I've been dusting them and they do seem better, but I still need to dust their run which I'll do today. We finally have some sun. Well, have a good day guys, I'll be thinking of yous and sending those good vibes your way!

On my days off I turn the coffee on, then go sit in the run with my 5 week old biddies. I just find it a very calming way to start my day! Husband thinks I am a nut...oh well. I have been working to get the girls (and 1 possible roo) to trust me enough to let me touch them without them avoiding my hand or running away. Well, this morning one of my RIR let me rub her back and neck! She just cocked her head to look up at me then stood there while I stroked under her neck. Yay! I have been able to do it when they are already starting to get ready to go to bed, but not so much during the day. I like to go and sit on a milk crate while they are running around my feet in the run. OK, now I have to hit it...I have soooo many things to get done today! Have a great week all you chicken loving coffee drinkers!

OCL sounds like an exciting relationship is blossoming. My chickrns only love me for food.
I went to an old friends house last night.I have been seeing his wife at church for a couple of years. My wife and I were invited over to see their award winning paints. My ,the money those 2 have wrapped in horses and equipment is unbelievable to me. Those horses are just beautiful. And the musclature is magnifiscent.
I will settle for animals that you can eat.Hogs at the sale barn today.

I got cows there were no hogs.I bought a pregnant cow for 310, a calf for 170, and a 355# calf for175. Not bad .the vet said the cow could be carrying twins.I've never pulled a calf but this cow is supposed to be 8 years old and I'm hoping I just wake up to a pair of calves and never even know she was in labor.Ya'll have a great day and memorial day God bless!

Hmmm...Where is everyone? Sleeping in I suppose!

Well, we now have 8 little chickies in our smaller coop. When I checked on them last night after dark they were all peering out from under her tail feathers. Very cute. I really need a picture of that! Momma is doing a good job of showing them where the food and water is. Our lice problem seems to have been solved. I guess the key is to oblitherate with the dusting powder or as I like to call it, "shock and awe". I also changed out the wood shavings, all the nesting boxes, and dusted outside around the coops, too. Hopefully I caught this early enough and it won't rear its ugly head again. I now plan on dusting as a preventative measure in the future. Our little rooster Blizzard is being hen pecked. He is getting bigger and should be able to defend himself a little better soon. He's already using his spurs on me!

Well, today I might go to a couple of flea markets and bum around with my flock. Have a nice day everyone no matter what you do!

Ahhhh... the coffee is tasting mighty fine this morning!

Good morning to all! I am about to refill my cup - it's a lazy start to what promises to be a beautiful day. I've been watching the sun rise and being grateful that I am here to see it. The air smells so fresh and new. Yesterday I played with our town band at a couple Memorial Day tributes and sold ten teenage chicks. It was a good day.
