Coffee's ready...

Quote:
Hi Karl, been lurking for a while; have a question...on the canned beans are those dried beans with the onion/bacon/ham etc., or are they green beans? And how long and what pressure is your wife processing them for?

I put up peaches today, spaghetti sauce yesterday and have a boatload of cantaloupe's I don't know what to do with!! Help!

Hope everyone had a great day! CCMH

Morning People,
Eggs & toast or oatmeal with the coffee? Doc says oatmeal, gut says eggs & toast............
Another hot (91f - yea I know, that's not hot) and dry day, a slight chance of storms this evening.
Shuffling the little rodent around today, getting her ready for her test tomorrow.
Everyone have a happy and safe day.
Eggs & toast won

Good morning everybody - - - -

Thanks for the pm Chickencrazymamahen.

Rancher Hicks - - I sent you a pm. Thanks for the offer to fax some canning directions.

It was over 100 F yesterday - again ! It is suppose to be even hotter today

I had to dunk all my chickens in a bucket of water yesterday - - they were so stressed from the heat !

I have to run - -- take Dh to work today. We are working off of one car while mine is in the shop.

Have a GREAT day everybody and enjoy the coffee.

Another sunny day. It was beautiful watching the sun rise - now it's up and I should be, too. I have a long list to get done today.
My laying flock of Ameracaunas are doing well, although yesterday there was a wicked fight between two roos. I have to get rid of one. The most aggressive should go, but he is the nicest looking one. lol.

Out of 25 replacement chicks (three breeds) I have 15 males. I guess I'll be eating a lot of chicken this winter. Right now, there is cacophony in the barnyard - every teenage rooster is competing to see who can crow the loudest. I sure hope my neighbors (summer people from the city) don't complain.

Have a great day!

Good Lord Sissy how do you do it. I try to sleep later but still get up with DW. I'm retired she works. Wish I had someone to let the chicks out.

Neck and shoulder hurting from mowing yesterday and need stronger pain pills. Don't know why Oxy is such a big deal. Who cares if I get addicted as long as it keeps me functional. Had two bios last week.

Garden new: yellow squash does great and got some cukes to. Peppers not so much, maybe need to use Miracle grow tho I prefer not to. Got tomato but they're crowded I think. Need to pull brussels out they didn't do good. Maybe planted to late. Boxes of canning jars just sitting.

Kismet that seems to be the way of chickens. Maybe it's God way of telling us to eat more chicken. Two Del chicks running around and both look to be roos. Have 5 others 4 to be processed in Aug. Can't wait tired of feeding them. Two Lav Amer's one to be given away today. Chicks under broody hope they are girls.

Math Ace I have a fax at home so I can send faxes easily. Most new printers have faxes and they aren't that hard to set and send, but I can send them to any fax number. Have 4 pages of incubation from Practical Poultry too. Helped me get better hatches. Besides it's fun to do. Faxing that is. Well Hatching to and I tell people not to buy chicks.

Well coffees almost gone, I don't eat breakfast til lunch time. More grass to mow and the new car has to be photographed for insurance.

Take care and have a safe day

Good morning chicken wranglers
Chicken mama, those are green beens canned with bacon & onions, and it was the only recipe I could find that did not call for a pressure cooker. We are going to try soups and such, but they will require pressure cooking and the we lost the"do dad"that goes on the top of our unit.
All you guys enjoying the heat? My wife told me that I smelled like a goat and that was before 9 am yesterday.Lucky I had deoderant in the shop and a fresh shirt. Within an hour the fragrance of goat was back.It is so humid that all I have to do is breath to sweat and it does not dry.
Winter will be here and we will get our chance to complain on a much lower level.
Right now I know we are all in harvest mode to prepare for the winter .
It is amazing to me that back in the day when people lived off the farm they had time to do anything let alone get any sleep.
I have not been able to keep up on the mowing or the weeding or anything that needed done all summer.Ihope ya'll are doing better than I am. Have a great day God bless!

Ugh. Today is a day of the 8's. It's the 28th, 78 degrees right now with 78% humidity, high of 88 degrees. STICKY!

I should do more weeding in the garden, and I want my tomatoes to red up! So many of them, the plants ar about 4-5' tall and loaded. I love old composted horse manure.

I wish I had central air. Sitting here typing and sweating. Nice.

Well I didn't weed but I did mow the rest of the yard. We have a big yard and no rider. Plus I bag everything so I've filled two new beds with grass cutting. One is 2x4 the other 4x4 both 12" high. Thats' alot of grass clippings. The did dishes and for a guy you know that's alot more work than if my DW did dishes.

Gave away a Lavender roo today too. He didn't have a very good comb so it's no big deal. I still have a bunch more. Plus a broody with three chicks. Two of which are Frzi's. I really wanted the two Del eggs to hatch. I just hope the one that did is a pullet.

Tootles for now

I took the kids Back to School shopping for 4 hours today. Then, I came home and worked on a wood sanding project.

This entire summer I have been VERY VERY BUSY and still have not gotten ahead of the honey do's. Somethings we are bumping util cooler weather - - - We have been upper 90's and low 100's for 2 weeks now. It is too hot to work outside on big projects. I can get a few hours of work done in the mornings and then a few more hours of work done in the evenings. During the heat of the day - - - I head inside and either cook or clean

I hope this heat breaks soon. We are close to breaking records every day. If it dropped 10 degrees, I would be good.

So far, I haven't lost any of my chickens
