Good morning all you flock tenders, its good to be back,
I have had a well earned vacation in N.Y. and it was wonderful.
seeing ground zero was heart renching. and all the building
that has taken place since was awesome.
just a little too much hustle for us,.but seeing the sights was wonderful.
N.Y.
is like visting someones kitchen, with round the clock cooking 24/7
all you have are the smells of all kind of cooking.
and yes we did over induleage bit .

but whats a vacation for, but to spoil your self .
but I missed not being here to find out how all the little peeps and big ones are doing.
I have no hatchings going on as I have a lot of work to catch up with,
in getting all
the floors ready for the winter months.and Sand it will be over some gravel
as I too have dirt floors in the coops and runs.have Amos and his lady free ranging
with their 2 little ones. and I must admit I have been looking for 2 golden comets around here to replace the ones I lost to some critter.
Tono.. its great to hear from you and doing so well.and so much.

Good morning! My coffee is getting cold, I may need to nuke it for a minute. It sounds like you had a nice trip, Sissy. I have been to New York a few times, and I really enjoyed it, too. I have a good friend that lives there that I need to visit sometime soon, funds permiting.
Well, my broody girl is doing well on her eggs so far. Her comb is kind of sad looking, but she does seem to be eating and drinking daily.
Oesdog, surely you have pictures of your crazy hen sitting on mice!! That made me laugh, but I do hope you get them under control. I've had them in my house twice and it's not fun! My cat was no help at all, and just played with them.
Well, gotta teach the parenting class today, last minute, so I need to prepare. Have a good day, folks!

Good moning,

It is 8:30 and I have been up for over 3 hours already. I have had 2 cups of coffee, reviewed and corrected my children's algebra 1 homework, moved the young chickens and older roos to the free range area, fed the hens, made the kids lunch and took them to the bus stop!

Whew, I am tired. I am thinking about laying down for another hour. Dad is still asleep and I have to go to college today. I have a lunch time class that has a quiz today. . . . A nap would help the brain power

NOTHING seems to be germinating in my garden. I have great germination from the Jiffy pellets, but not in my garden. I wonder what I am doing wrong ? ? ? ? ? ?

Tomorrow, dad has to go back to the doctors. After that, maybe we will get a chance to go through a few more of his moving boxes.

CHICKS - - - how is that leghorn moma doing ? ? - - - Got it - - - we must of been typing at exactly the same time. Sad looking comb is normal during the broody process. As long as she is eating and drinking - - - it will be fine. At least we are starting to get a break from the heat!

She is up on her feet again and drinking and eating but is way not ballanced and falls a lot. Roo boy Blue is suffering now from being inside - I need to put him out for his own good but then poor Omlet will be so lonely - I will have to take a chance and put her into the smaller run with Blue boy during the day and see how she does.

I am really tired right now and the old head is busting. I had the DGd here this morning. What a sweet heart! But I don;t get anything done just Oohh and Aahh over her all the time! Must get a grip!

I am about to go find more coffee to keep me awake and with it. Ds will be here soon - Tooooooooooo soon! Wish his bus would do a longer drive home from Adult centre today!!!!!!! Oh well better get myself together and grab coffee before he comes in.

Hi, everyone<

speaking of mice I was chasing a hen around the yard today to get the mole she was trying to eat. If was really quite funny that she wanted that thing so bad. Yuk.

Now for those who don't know I lost two friends this past week. Both had been sick for years and had to endure lots of hospitalizing and all that it entails. While they are with the Lord I will stilll miss them and think about my own immortality or is that mortality.

Now I've got two older chicks whose mum has finished with them and for some reason they want get under my BO who has two young chicks. These two are at least 6 weeks. They squeeze themselves into the nest box with her at night. I have to keep taking them out and putting them on the roost. What's up with that? I've never had that happen. When they're in the yard they don't follow her around but at night they seek protection under the BO. I'm concerned for the chicks she has. It's something that has just started. I don't get it.

really just wanted to check in.

Morning People,
Coffee's hot but it is Rwanda.......

Weather: Chance of Thunderstorms, mid 80's. I woke to 60 degs.

I picked the last of the beans yesterday, I think I froze about 15 meals worth. We added a lamb to the freeze and maybe some venison later in the year. You can feel fall in the air around here. I have to get going on cleaning the chimney and moving wood up to the house this weekend. Saturday should be a apple canning day. I made some more and canned the tomato and rhubarb BBQ sauce the other day. The tomato BBQ starts off sweet but ends up burning. It's funny watching people eat it.

We have fixed the Pot belly chimeny since the Bird got stuck there and I think we will be getting to wood cut soon. The temperature here is dropping rapidly at night and I still have two darn chickens in the dinning room???? Think they will winter in the garage beside the boiler! Little Omlet is still hanging in there she is a tropper and doesn;t give up.

Been out for Coffee this morning - lovely treat!!! Unfortunately Ds with the brain injury issues was supposed to go to his work placement but wouldn;t go so we have had to bring him home.

I am for making DH something to eat so better away for now.
Rancher - so sorry to hear of your friends I know they meant so much to you. -

Just for you to give you a laugh - MY hen still wont give up her babies they are near as big as she is and this is her trying despirately to climb on top of them still!!!!!!!

You can just about see two little beaks! -- !!!!!!!!

Rain likely here since i'm in NY like Que is.

My wounded chick did not survive, poor thing. I did use neosporin but maybe there was an infection I couldn't see. Strange she was fine by herself but when I put in a companion she didn't do so well and died.

Well take care folks, time for more coffee. Places to go, people to annoy.

Math Ace, I don't know what to tell you on the garden - I planted my seeds on Saturday and I've already got lettuce coming up. Isn't that slight change in weather this time of year the BEST? I love fall in Florida. I just walked to a meeting on the other side of campus and it was still so nice out. Ahhh.......

Well, gotta run over to the classroom to see if a delinquent student of mine has decided to come to school today. Have a good one, folks!
