Chics,
My wife and I sometimes have only fried green tomatoes for dinner.
Believe me we don't plan it that way,but as soon as they start coming out of the pan they are going into someone's belly.
Zuchinini's and squash are the same way at our place most times when we are frying that stuff we just stand around the stove and eat as it comes ready.

BEFORE this year I was a full-time math teacher at a local high school. This year, I am using my accrued sick time and Family medical leave act to take time off and take care of my father. He has only been with me for less than two months and has already spent a week in the hospital. He has to go to the doctor weekly for the next 6 months. SO, in the meantime I signed up for a college class on statistics. It will count towards the renewal of my teaching certificate. I go to class twice a week for a hour and a half. During this time, I have a friend who sits with dad. This is "my" time and helps provide a brain break from the family needs.

OK to answer your question, school is going well. I took statistics 20 years ago AND it was nothing like this class

I got a 100% on our first quiz. I AM learning NEW things, but I still like calculus better

Morning People,
Coffee's hot, debating what to have for breakfast.

Weather: Upper 80's, chance of storms. Woke up to 64 degs, windy, overcast.

Welcome to the "jitter" table Tartannik - I am married into a "Grant" clan.

We tried okra for the first time about a month ago in some shrimp gumbo I made. We took a liking to it, so we have some in the freeze at the moment.

How do you guys make fried green tomatoes and/or okra? double or single dip in batter or no batter then fry them?

New recipes sound good with me. Anything that has a theme based on food, is always good for me.

Enjoy the day

Kaj

Well its 12.31 here as I am typing this. Sun is shining. I've had about 5 coffee's already today and am heading out for Lunch soon with Ds , Dh and Dgd ( Begining to thing that baby will never go home!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have her apparently tonight overnight and tomorrow overnight??? Dd and DsiL say they are tired. I don;t think they have any thought that were up in the nights with our disabled boy Danny who is not a baby but 23yrs old! So it kind of worries me a bit as Baby is "fixing" more on me and her grandad than her parents???? ( I think they should take her longer and face parental responsibility more???)What do you guys think???? Too much not enough???? Ahhhhhhhhhh

Dr says Dd needs this as she is depressed. I thought to myself no one took my 4 babies under 3 and a half for me when I was her age 21yrs and all I got from my parents was: Hope you are not going to ask us to baby mind its your bed you lay on it!!! Lovely!!!!!!!! I struggled and I can tell you I NEVER once asked them to help with my kids. So I am kind of finding this hard with Dd as I worry about longterm. Love Jessy though I could eat her oooops - along with some green fried tomoto!!!!

FRIED OKRA - -

Wash 1 lb okra and slice in 1/3 - 1/2 inch slices.
Sprinkle with water (apprx 2 tbls water) and lightly pepper.

In ziplock baggie, mix 1 1/2 cup corn meal, 2 TBL cornstarch, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper.
Add some sliced okra - - - may be turning slimy at this point, it will be ok
SHAKE and remove from batter. Shake off excess batter.

Gently drop into a few inches of 350 F oil. Fry for 5 min or until golden brown. Remove and drain and serve immediately!
REPEAT until all okra is cooked.
