Thank you, Karl. You have a great day! God has blessed you - at least your lake (pond), pond (chicken run), and ocean of mud (garden) aren't all one big lake! It seems that so many people right now are dealing with evacuations due to flooding, we are fortunate and blessed that we are still in our homes! Pray for those displaced by the flooding rivers this year! And those who have lost their homes to tornadoes.

Well Paul is here I'll explain later.

Rancher

We went to get our son Ben ( The one with the brain injury) Some hens today. IT was sooooo funny.
We knew a fellow who had so called fancy hens because we had ran accross the fellow and his wife at a car boot a few weeks back. So we decided to check out what they had. Anyhow when we got there all of the birds were running about in the same pen - which rings allarm bells straight off with me because well the ROo boys will just bonk anything they are not fussy about keeping to their own breed! Anyhow the fellow showed us some scrawny little baby chicks but I wasn;t interested in them because they were too young to sex properly and I didn;t recognise the breed. Then I lifted the cutest wee thing and I knew what it was straight off - I have been swatting up on chickens!!!! It is amazing what one can learn on BYC! I wasn;t interested in buying the baby because I didn;t want another roo boy to emerge! But I instantly knew it was the only cuckoo Maran baby in the pen. Having raised a few myself and my Gerty girl sitting pretty on her nest of Leghorn imposters. A slight improvement on the baby mice she was trying to brood last year. So here I am with this little darling upside down in my arms while I am stroking its tummy and cooing at it like an idiot thinking wish I had my coat with big pockets! Then the fellow came up to me and said oh yes the baby - Little Barred rock!!!!! - ????????? Bigger Alarm bells ringing!!! Are you sure I say? - Oh yes it is a little Barred rock!!! Oh thats very strange I say - why? he said - because if its a barred rock theres something very wrong with it!!!! Its feet are the wrong colour! Oh he said Barred rocks have different colour feet! Yeah right??? - NO your wrong this is a cuckoo maran chick its legs and feet are pink, I think you will find if you go look up your breed manual you will discover your Barred Rocks should have YELLOW LEGS AND FEET!!!! Ha ha - he was a little shocked that I knew what I was saying and wasn't some dumb idiot. Then I said oh yes while your here I will take the light Sussex Hen and that Maran x you have running about - That Maran x you have over there the one whos mum got caught by your Road Island Red rooster!!! He was so shocked and he lost his good Sussex hen that he was trying not to let me notice!!! Ha HA - She is a beauty! ( I don;t think he realised she was in the sales pen!!!) I am thrilled with myself also I told Ben I wanted the first load of Eggs off of his two new girls because I know they have been with the roosters and are likely to hatch and I don;t mind x light Sussex or the Maran xx RIR. We already are up and running for chicks as we have the incubater ready incase our Gerty gets off the nest. My Bertha isn;t well and if her broken foot doesn;t heal I will need another sussex to replace the old girl though she is a red and a lovely girl so it will be sad to have to cull. I am hoping it wont come to that and the leg will heal up for her.

So thats my news and now I am for a coffee and sit down!!! I am soooo pleased with myself though sad I left the baby - wish I had big pockets. He didn;t deserve to have the chick if he didn;t know what it was and tried to sell it as something else. Not very good chicken folk!!! DH didn;t want my chicken Maths to go mad - I sure would sooo have brought that baby home with me

Next time you'll have better luck o
Thankyou epig I'll remeber them that are displaced to the Lord this very night!

So I'm back. Paul is a young brother who I hire to help around the place. Today we set some more posts for the stockade fencing we're replacing. Of course like a nit wit I forgot to measure the spacing so we'll have to make some modifications. We had to reset some posts and I just figured they were ok. Worse things have happened and it's fixable. . The last two we measured so they should be ok. It did save a not of money though.

Who knows maybe next year we can add to it and do the whole yard. 630' x 150' . No I guess not.

Good morning chicken wranglers
We got off to a good start this morning.Another day with no coffee,This makes 3 weeks of no cafiene mornings for me,And my 3rd week of trying to pass this immense kidney stone!I had a CT scan yesterday and perhaps they will be able to tell me something about it today.Meantime I just sit, squirm, and burn if you know what I mean, and if you don't you are better off.
Rancher I just put up new stockade around the shop,I believe it cost around 650.00 for the panels and labor for a guy to do it.
With scrap prices being so high I half to enclose the perrimeter or thieves will take every piece of steel they can find.
Your fence looks good keep the good work going.
God Bless!

Trying to pass the stone - -Whatcha waiting for ? ?
Are they going to go in and BLAST if you don't pass it soon ? ?
Do you have more than one ? ?

Sorry, again. I KNOW it is extremely painful. I've seen it bring some pretty big and strong men to their knees.

I don't know,Ihope to hear today,The stone has made it to my bladder and seems to be having trouble migrating from there so the discomfort goes from bearable to intolerable but not excrutiating as when it was traveling from my kidney to my bladder, and yes they told me I have more.My future is bright.

Well Karl, I've had 5 stones. No matter what they say they are not the size of a grain of sand either. I joked I was going to make a necklace out of them since I have a more in there waiting to make my life a living heck. Drink lots of water. LOTS of water.

I've done all the research and contrary to what some believe some are prone to forming these things. Diet has nothing to do with it.

Well I do hope everyone is having a better day,

Rancher
