Coffee's ready...

i've been here lurking, just haven't had a chance to say 'hi'. I'm outside enjoying a lovely cup of coffee. It's cool again, probably about 70 or so. I thought i was going to loose another chick this week, but she has perked up. They finished a round of corid, and they still aren't laying worth a darn.
Next weekend we are going camping, and the campground has this big halloween party and haunted woods. I need to get us ready for that. Apparently everyone decorates their site, so we are going with a 'tomb of doom' archiological site theme. Gotta figure out an easy way to make mummy costumes for the girls and my son.

Hey all, picked apples today with the queen. Now I just have to find recipes so they don't all go bad.

My DS and his live near the Winn Dixie and a couple of golf courses. They also have a TSC around the corner. GrandD goes to a small school , Coosada or some funny name. Starts with a C I think. It's on a street with the same name.

Chics don't rub it in, it's cold and rainy here. We still picked apples and I went to get it out of the way.

Cold and days are short so the chickens aren't laying much, but that's fine I've got plenty of eggs for now. I did turn a light on in the evenings anyhow.

Well take care and be good,

Rancher

quercus Sorry I missed your post yesterdaymornng I would have come for dinner. Love lamb. Serverd about 115 Roast beef dinners at church Sat. Let my girls have some of the leftovers. 1st time for them and they didn't need any prompting. see Yall in the AM

The chickens are drowning in Muddy water. It is a good job that DH put a few perches outside or they would be stuck in the mud with all the lost boots and old socks that got sucked into the mud last winter! No apples here they all got blown off the trees weeks back. Though I think if the rain would go for a day or so I might go blackberry hunting. Then of course I would need to find me a nice plump Pheasent to cook in the juice!!!

It's sunny here and warm. But I have to wake up enough to go through with DS and inspect the chicken yard (aka, the back yard) because two of our hens have gotten a toenail stuck in something and torn their toenails off! So today is cleanup day and we're going to make see if there's anything out there they can catch their toe in and take care of it. I'm *so* not looking forward to it. Ah well. At least it's not raining.

Good morning chicken wranglers
Cold here too.I think we can all take the cold for granted for a few months. We have been spoiled for a few years with winters.

Afternoon people,
It feels a bit warm then usually here. We haven't had that killing frost yet. We usually have a blast at the end of September. I thought maybe it was from all the rain/cloud cover we have had the last 6 weeks or so.

rancher hicks: I thought you were talking about Millbrook, NY. I never knew there was a Millbrook, Al.

rngrbill: We received the lamb a few weeks ago. It's mostly ground and stew except for the legs....

chics in the sun: Enjoy your camping. Our season for camping is just about over. We have a few more weeks of hiking till hunting season starts.

Enjoy your evening
