Coin from 1851 found in the Roof!

Here's the other side of the coin. It says "United States of America" "One Cent". According to our town's Centennial book, my house was the first built in the area, of course no year. Then there was a fire sometime, so, I'm thinking that around 1851 (or more likely after) the fire happened and someone was up there fixing the roof and this coin ended up there. I looked on Ebay just to see what they were selling for and it looks about $30 for nice ones. This one we will keep though as an artifact.

***The reverse side should be as "one cent" in middle surrounded by a leave
pattern with "United States of America" on outside edge, Blue.
Thanks Spook,

It is a cool coin. We have an 1863 penny embedded in our fireplace, but it was put there by later owners (who knew the age of the house).

Oh one of those, those are so common. They are only worth 25 cents but I would be more than happy to take it of your hands, I will even give you double for it, 50 cents OK?

Nice score really, given my novice knowledge of coins it is probably worth about $12/15 pending its condition. I would get it valued but who do you trust? Most coin guys are in it to make money so.... I would keep it for myself unless it is worth some serious dough which I don't think it is. OK how bout 75 cents?
