cold and new chicks

I just got welies and barnies in the mail today!
I'm in WV, so not quite as cold as you.

My plan

2-3 weeks indoor brooder
2-3 weeks outdoor brooder with heat lamp
when feathered out into the coop with a heated waterer for warmth on cold cold nights. these two breeds are supposed to be pretty winter hardy. Since I have 12 of them total, I figure they can huddle up and provide each other some warmth as well.

Hey all I'm in NJ and will be getting my shipment of Arucanas and Silver-laced Wyandottes in 2 weeks. I was wondering the same thing about when to put them outside.....

We do plan on brooding them in the house with a heat lamp. My question though is I will be getting 25 chicks - they will outgrow the brooder soon enough, so what should I keep them in while they're in my basement or garage until they're ready to go outside?

Thanx!
