I've got a broody hen - She has been a good sitter so far.

Last night I fenced off a quarter of the coop to allow the chicks protection from the rest of the flock. I expect them about Monday.

Anyway - when I got home this afternoon I found the hen had flown the coop & couldn't get back in so she decided to sit on someone elses eggs.

The eggs were cold to the touch.

I put them in the bator - but don't hold out any hope.

Should I wait until Monday/Tuesday or open them now?

Keep working on them. I've had a pullet get off her eggs at day 18 before, they were cold when I touched them, but they all hatched out in the end anyway.

cool - luckily I had just finished building my incubator or they would be in the oven.

I'll give them until Wednesday just in case the cold slowed them down some - but Monday should be the day.

I had candled them a while back & they definately had something in there - lets hope!
