Northwest Indiana
Hi all! I just put my girls outside over the weekend and they are doing great! Fully feathered, 5 and a half weeks old, standard sized chickens. Temps have ranged from low 50s to 80 yesterday (yay northwest Indiana weather! ) now tonight the temps are going to drop again with highs only in the low 40s, lows in the 30s with a chance of snow/ freezing mix. Should I bring my girls back inside for the next few days, or just leave them out? They have an insulated coop, but no additional heat source in it.

This is just my personal opinion, having grown up with chickens, and not grounded on any research. Also, being from Africa, that is fairly chilly for us. You didn't mention how many chickens you have, as they keep each other warm. I am sure they will be fine if they are strong and healthy, but for safety sake I would rather still let them sleep inside for a week or two.

I have 6 girls

I think many people might differ from me, but I would rather bring them in if temperatures drop below 50.

I am in the same situation (Montana). Left mine out last nite and it was 29 degrees and they did great. Supposed to snow this weekend so I am adding a heat lamp.
