Cold weather chickens

Wyandottes are popular for their rose comb. Single combs when large are prone to frost bite. Heritage plymouth rocks and RIR's will have smaller combs. Our hatchery stock RIR's and Barred Rock got a touch of frost bite on larger comb when nights hit -30 F last year. Oh, and don't forget Orpington. All winter layers, cold hardy.

Do you need to feed different when it gets freezing temp outside? what should i feed them in the coldest weather?

No. I've heard that coarsely ground corn is supposed to be better in cold weather, I don't know if its true or not. I feed corn screenings all winter and my birds to just fine.
