i use my inlaws grease from their bacon cooking and combine it with scratch feed and dried fruit. freeze it in a pie pan and man hey love it. yeah they cook a lot of bacon.

we love the freeze dried mealworms... TSC has them kind of expensive at 20 dollars but worth it. we hand feed them at night I don't know about them being an adequate protein source but it has certainly improved the interaction between us and the flock. even the ones that have been standoffish from the beginning will come close enough for us to get a good look at everyday without having to trap or catch them aggressively...

i give mine 2 types of treats. i take all the veg peelings and boil them up in a pan. then i add a load of alpen bran flakes with fruit in. i let it soak in and then dish it out.
the other treat is the fat balls, fat squares with mealworms or mixed seeds or the half coconut shells filled with the same thing. they are supposed to be for wild garden birds but my lot go mad for them!
