Does anyone else feel awful doing this?
We've had four chickens for almost a year now whom couldn't care less about what happens to their eggs once they're out, however in October of last year we brought two female Muscovy ducklings to replace the two male roosters from our initial flock of six that we had to rehome (nearly breaking my wife's heart).
They're both really sweet lovely girls whom only started laying about two weeks ago, the last three days though one has hit a sudden, deep, violent brood. So violent we've had to seperate her from her poor dejected sister.
Alls fine and good in general, I was warned when we purchased them that they were prone to broodiness. However the last few mornings when I've gone to collect Danny's eggs whilst the pecking and biting doesn't bother me the panicked hissing and frantic peeping is making me feel like a real douche.
Anyone else ever get the guilts like that. Anyone found any way of easing the panic for brooding mothers?
