College Student ready for the Semester to be over!!!

"So professor should I be worried about my grade or anything??"

Well, exactly what state of denial are you living in? You never did any assignments and failed the mid term. What do you think your grade is?

OK I didn't say that, but I wanted to!!

I have WHAT in my yard? :

Sounds like a few of my high school students (freshmen).

"What did I get on the exam?"

"A D."

"Oh... Is that bad?"

I'm pretty blunt with my students, though. I probably would have told the student exactly what you wanted to say, perhaps without the "state of denial" comment.

I am a graduate student, and just finished my final exam for my class Tuesday night. I can only afford to take one class at a time, because they are about $1,200 each, so it is slow going getting done. On the plus side, taking one class at a time allows me to concentrate all my studying on one class only. As a result, I have a 4.0 in grad school which is something I'm extremely happy about. I eventually want to go for my Ph.D., but that will be at least three years from now. I have about six classes left to take.

Grad school is big $$$ alright. Luckily science and engineering grad programs pay your tuition in exchange for being their slave for 5-6 years.

Repeat: "Yes, I will be in the lab every 6 hours to feed the cells, every day of the week, every week of the month, every month of the year, in addition to passing all classes and publishing at least 3 articles in my internment."

I finished on Tuesday and got home last night. I've had six tests over the last week and a half! I was definitely ready for the end of the semester. By the last final I didn't even care! It was definitely very hard to concentrate on studying.

I love being at school, I just get tired of going to classes every day! I'm a bio major, so a good portion of my classes are science based. I'm definitely not looking forward to next semester though! I am taking three science courses and three labs!

Ha ha! I take it you've had some kind of experience with this?

Luckily, I do get reimbursed for part of the money I spend on classes, but I have to wait until the following year, so in the meantime, I have to put my own money up front. Additionally, I have to pay for books, a parking sticker ($200), etc. It's worth it, though, because any sacrifice I make now is guaranteed to pay off (in the teaching profession here in Michigan, the pay scale is stepped and based on years of experience as well as education).

I just got all my grades today....

All A's! I am very, very happy! I was worried about a few of the classes, but I guess I did well enough on the rest of the tests and the finals didn't really matter too much. Now I can finally relax and actually enjoy my break (And my parents are happy because this means yet another reduction on my car insurance!) It also meant that it brought my GPA up to a 3.92...which will be awesome when the med schools look over my transcripts!
