I've been doing a bit of reading on Colloidal Silver and its uses in chicken diseases/infections, including Marek's disease. It sounds like a great substance to have around, as long as it isn't overused. But I have a few questions that I'm hoping can be answered:

1. What is the best concentration to us? I've seen 10pp/m, 30pp/m, and even 500pp/m.
2. What would be the best dosage for use on a small bantam (Dutch Bantam sized)? I know there haven't really been any studies on it, but what does everyone else use?
3. Has anyone observed any harmful side effects on their chickens, and if so, after how much use?
4. Does it actually work as well as it is said to? I'd be interested in using it on birds with Marek's disease or other illnesses.

Thanks to anyone who responds!

Hi there,
Can't say that I've used it at all. According to the medical literature, it has no proven benefits for many of the claims laid to it. I would be cautious in using it because of this - also, depending on the cost. Unless someone here can tell you otherwise, I would save your pennies for stuff proven effective. Sue

I use the 500 ppm for my chickens eyes when they get a irritation. It has worked very well for me.i would not use anything lower than 500 parts per million hope this helps.
