The oldest ones are only about 4 months old. They are not causing problems at all so far, haven't seen even one try to jump a pullet, I do have a lot of other roosters right now that are a little older so they are pretty far down the rooster pecking order. As far as people go, so far I find them timid and -very- flighty, the orangy one is pretty friendly but I spent an hour following these little guys through the shrubbery to get pics. The SPQs are the same age range and a lot bolder and more willing to talk to people, those roos will follow you around begging.

Kelsie,

I love that you are sharing pictures of your birds. I love all the different colors. My collanca chicks are all different colors - can't wait to see how they mature! My two Sp Quecuas are very sweet and run to my hand. I love their "winter" faces - they look like little owls.

Send a pm to @HappyChooks and ask her if she can set you back to Grannychick54.
I am not sure what happened but her page is blank nothing on it . I know she had some trouble and had to get rid of most of her chickens . I had been discussing the SA birds with her but cannot get in touch with her now . I hope everything is alright with her .Maybe Yashar can give us more detail on these birds .

Sorry replied to wrong person. I am no very computer savvy. Kelsie 2290 how many Colloncas do you have ? They are beautiful the colors are stunning. Will you be selling any eggs when they are old enough? I have 4 not sure yet of their sex .

I need a source for Huastec eggs. Right now all I have is my stunning, icy white rooster that hatched from a beautiful blue egg that I got from Yashars egg order last spring; the remainder of the chicks from that hatch were the standard black variations, and all died. Every egg order since then has failed to develop. I do have a black skinned, gray hen with a lovely crest I have in with him, and I'm saving the gray hatchlings. I got her from ChooksChick/SparkyCrows South American eggs. I do not know what her variety is called, but she looks a lot like the British 'araucanas'. She loves the cold and wet weather, and has an extra toe - similar to silkie, but much more functional; she can crawl up a tall fence if she wants to escape it. Lots of reading leads me to believe they may have originated in The Falklands islands off South America.
So, I am trying to establish a separate flock of Huastec and the gray birds (maybe a mottled blue is closer to the color, with an occasional darker gray or black feather and streaks of white in some feathers). My Huastec roo has striking white plumage, and with his adult molt he develop an overlay of pale gold rooster feathering across his back from neck to tail. He is gentle with us and the hens, and very good with young - helping the moms feed their chicks, but has not tolerated new roosters coming into his yard
