Colombian rock breeds

Colombian refers to the feather pattern and ground color. Rock is a short version of the breed "Plymouth Rock". Other breeds with the Colombian pattern are Wyandottes, Delaware, Sussex, Brahma.... Both the latter are called "Light" rather than "Colombian", and Brahma also have Buff Colombian, commonly just called "Buff". Whether your birds are Colombian Rocks or crosses or something else, I'm not sure. I can state they're NOT Wyandottes or Brahmas. Combs are wrong, and Brahmas have feathered feet. Also, body shape for the wyandotte is wrong. Sussex typically have white skin (look at legs and feet) while Wyandottes and Plymouth Rocks have yellow skin. Dunno much about Delawares, but they're supposed to have some barring in the black (it's actually all over, but white stripes on white feathers are simply white).

But it is supposed to be spelled "Columbian" (like Christopher Columbus), not "Colombian" (like the country.)

I have a Columbian rock Cross from Mt Healthy. She is the sweetest! Very docile, follows me around, waits for me to lock the coop before she roosts every night. She’s at the bottom of the pecking order…not bullied just patiently waits to do anything, not agressive at all! My little Coconut! She has the cutest floofy bum feathers too! 😂
Ooh do you have pictures of her!?

Cackle hatchery sells Columbian rocks. I was going to order some, but I wound up getting the Columbian wyandottes instead. I do love your birds with the Columbian feather pattern paired with the single comb.
What are Colombian Wyandotte’s? How do they look different from a Columbian rock?

Ohhh I’m pretty sure my hens have yellow feet and white skin so I’m confused now 😂

Columbian wyandottes

and

Columbian rocks

Rocks have single combs and wyandottes have rose combs. People who breed and show these breeds would be able to rattle off a whole other list of differences, I'm sure, but to the average person the comb type is going to seem like the biggest difference.

If they have yellow feet, they have "yellow" skin as well.

Other than the feet and lower legs, the skin usually does not look particularly yellow.

For people cooking chickens or selling them for meat, if see them dead with the feathers off, the skin on the body does look a little bit different. That gene also affects the color of the fat, so chickens with yellow skin have yellow fat, and chickens with white skin have white fat. It's much less obvious in the live birds with their feathers still on.
