Color genetics thread.

The chicken color calculator said that if I breed a splash rooster to a golden laced hen all the chicks will be blue laced (blue with black lacing). Has anyone tried that combination and what did you get?

I have made a number of crosses with the blue gene and lacing, but I have not made that specific cross. What you will get is blue offspring with some non-black in the hackles, back, breast or wing bows of the males. The non-black could be just in certain areas or all the areas mentioned. Female will show some non-black in the hackles. The amount can vary from small to a large amount.

If the male carries the silver allele at the sex-linked silver locus, then the non-black will be white. If the male is gold at the sex-linked silver locus, then the color will be red/gold in color.

lemon blues, red blacks, and lemon splash

some will have blue replaced by black
some will have blue replaced with splash

if the blue is actually lavender then all lemon blue

go back one picture to see a male- the females will not have the black in the hackles, this is the closest plumage I can find

It's the same pattern as Birchen, but with gold/red instead of silver. It's usually called Brown Red. Black Copper Marans have the same color genetics.
Lemon Blues are the same pattern, but with the Blue/Black/Splash gene affecting the black pattern color. The same breeding rules apply.

Junebuggena - what I see is out of a LB to LB pairing you get 50% LB, 25% splash and 25% red black? Did I understand correctly?
