Hello. Really want a Silkie to be the same color as my Buff laced Brahma. I attached a picture. I thought of putting my Brahma Rooster in with my buff Silkie hen but I’m afraid he will break her back. So I thought maybe put the Brahma hen in with a buff Silkie Rooster. But will he beable too mount her ? Anyone have experience with breeding the two? Has anyone been successful breeding for this color in a Silkie? I know there are red Pyle silkies but I don’t want them. I thought this would be a fun project pen. Hope someone can tell me if this can be done or avoided ? Thank you !

Your brahmas a beautiful! I'm not sure it's worth it to attempt to breed a laced silkie since the pattern would hardly show in their wispy, fluffy feathers. You might get some satins though.
Thanks for the input. I’m thinking it might take a few generations. But have no idea. I’m okay with losing the lacing just more after producing the color.

Sure! The Brahma rooster can go with your silkie hen, or you can choose the second option. You’d probably have better luck with the first option though. My ginormous rooster mates smaller sized girls with no problem. The hens squat for the roosters to jump on them, and the rooster’s weight goes into the ground rather than the hen.

It may not show up so well, but that’s what projects/experiments are for. Try it! See what you get, and keep us posted. Also, your buff laced Brahmas are gorgeous. I so wish I had one of my own.
