I skimmed thru the thread & am wondering what I will get breeding lavendar orp roo to buff orp hens. All new to me! thanks, Trish
I was told or read somewhere that the lavender turns the "gold" gene to a straw color. I think that buff red and gold are all in the gold group ( I'm not really a genetics expert), and I can't really testify to that (turn the color) as I don't have any lavenders in anything. I had a pair of lavender ameraucana's but lost them.Basically, a mess. The color genes that create buff are so different from what creates lavender that you'll likely get chicks with buff heads and another color on the body.
