Our City in Aurora Colorado just approved 4 hens per house, we just got started raising 4 baby chicks that will soon be in the backyard coop and run when they are old enough.

Hello from Fairplay Colorado! That's great you can have chickens there now! They are so fun. Fairplay has some kind of limit on how many chickens, but they don't enforce it. I know a bunch of people who have chickens in town... but there are also horses, burros and goats right in town, too. We picked up 7 chicks mid April. Two of them I'm pretty sure are cockerels. :-( Can't keep them. Hopefully, somebody wants some cockerels. We got 2 buff orpingtons (super friendly breed), 3 easter eggers (one of these I'm pretty sure is a cockerel, but we will have to wait until it crows or lays an egg), and 2 barred rocks (one is most likely a cockerel).

What kind of chicks did you get? Here are ours:


This one loves me, flies up and sits on my shoulder like a parrot. Lol!


Right now they live in our laundry room. We cover the floor with old towels to keep the poop off the carpet when we take them out of their bins. Tomorrow they go in the coop! Yay!


The flock! Almost 6 weeks old.
