What a day. got all the bad parts off the car by 9:20 AM, and picked up a friend, then dropped off our younger son Eric at his job. then we drove to Denver and got parts off some cars in the junkyard. Drive back, picked up Eric, then on to the house. Got everything installed except for the headlights and the battery. Hood, left fender, bumper, a couple of frames. radiator. We are tired, but it is a good tired.

Hope all goes well with the shed.
You got a lot done!

Has anyone heard anything good on local craigslisters and the chicks they are hatching? The one in peyton and in black forest. I am in the market for a couple of chicks that my girls can raise. It will be a learning expeeience for them.

I have never used Craigslist for chicks but I am going to be listing some soon. I would just advise the 'buyer beware' aspect regarding breed and gender. If they swear they are all pullets I would be wary unless you know something about the breed (or cross) and can judge telltales for yourself. There are people out there who swear by some 'my granny taught me this' method for gender ID and they are about as accurate as swinging a sewing needle over a pregnant woman's hand to figure out the babies gender. Same goes for breed. Some places are reputable and you get exactly what they say you will. Some just want that one sale and will figure calling a black chick an Australorp is good enough even if there are no Australorp Roos in their pens and maybe two hens.

Just educate yourself and you should be ok. If in doubt about an add or such, check here. Someone may know someone who bought from them or at least be able to send up warning flags.

I don't see myself (looking into my crystal ball) using craigslist for selling chicks or eggs, after I saw an advert last year for "vegetarian free range chicken eggs". Apparently the seller didn't realize that free range chickens eat bugs..... just sayin.....

We got our Cochins and Silkies from a woman on Craigslist, in falcon (I'm Peyton, but her in Falcon is literally around the corner) the Cochins are beautiful, the boys have some color leakage, but we like them for their looks, so that doesn't matter much to us. The silkies are just silkies, fluffy sweet little things the kids pick up and carry around.

I got my coop today! Yay!

Now to put it together. I might have chickens by Saturday. Anyone going to the chicken/small animal small on Saturday? It is at 51st and Ward in Westminster.

I emailed the Black Forest listing a few weeks back. She said she gets her birds from Ideal. She does not vaccinate for mareks. She said she would replace a bird if it turned out to be a roo. I was thinking about buying some from them at some point a just changed my mind and decided I wanted to hatch my own chics.
