Hmm, wonder why I thought ideal. Were the last ones from ideal? Eh, whatever, I'm sure my memory is just wonky as always. Hoping for the best with our babies.

Ya, the last batch was from privett also. Hope these ones are healthy! The cold weather is making me worry a little.

I have one week left to make the final decisions on which hens go into the breeding pens. 4 per pen, a total of 8 hens. Actually it would be easier to choose which ones don't go into the pens......... They go into the pens either Feb 22 or 23.

I will put #s 4 and 12 into breeding pen A (pen 3) and choose the next best 2 to go in with them. the next 4 nest will go into breeding pen B (pen 4). Abe will rotate pens every couple of days to assure good fertility in both pens. Eggs collected after 1 week will be marked with the date they were laid, and an A or B to note which pen they were from. ...

First batch of 2013 goes into the incubator around March 6-8, depending on how many we have collected. I don't want to wait more than a week for the oldest eggs.

Wow have you ever got it down. You sound like the anal retentive perfectionist engineer I have been my whole life. After seeing pics of your coop, though, I think there could have been some more work put into mine

Still working on that 'friend' thing we talked about, I still have no idea who nominated me... Keep up the excellent work, P
