Wow have you ever got it down. You sound like the anal retentive perfectionist engineer I have been my whole life. After seeing pics of your coop, though, I think there could have been some more work put into mine

Still working on that 'friend' thing we talked about, I still have no idea who nominated me... Keep up the excellent work, P
LOL. thanks.

My kids say I have OCPD....Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder. This "project" has been either in the planning or construction phase since about 2009........ I was just commenting to Beth last night how as soon as the final shed is done, the chicken construction will be finished, except for shingles.......

I have also decided that when I get the hens into the breeding pens, I really ought to clean out the main hen house. I like the deep little method, but it has been since late July....Just keep adding new bedding! Doesn't really smell too bad, but the ratio of manure to bedding is getting to that point that I don't want to add any more new stuff until the old is cleaned out.

It's supposed to be nice and warm this weekend. I'll be thinking about you as I disassemble the entire coop, remove every single shaving, pressure wash it, let it dry, soak it with bleach, let it dry, pressure wash it again, let it dry, replace all the shavings and hay, and coat the girls in Sevin dust. How's that for OCPD?

NICE! Of course, then you need to compost all the old bedding.....

This afternoon is the big game between Hanover and Edison. That will take up the whole afternoon and evening for me. Tomorrow, however is a different story! Netting to cover the pens, chicken ramps, some modifications to the small coops, nothing major though. I originally put the hinges on the bottom, so when they were open the doors formed kind of a ramp...one that gets in the way of everything.

So I am switching the hinged to the back side, so they open like a door and aren't in the way any more.

I e-mailed my CSU extension office....nothing on that yet.

And I shot out a couple more e-mails to a couple breeders.....

sorry, but again...

I can't believe Privett Hatchery left me hanging this long! I would have kept searching if I knew they were not going to make my shipment!

I hate to say it, but have you tried Big R? Franks Feed & Supply (303) 646-4730 often has baby chicks but they're way up here in Elizabeth. Good Luck

So sorry to hear that, I know you were really looking forward to those Seabrights. It sounds like they are having quality issues with that breed. Maybe you are better off getting them somewhere else. Hugs!
