Colorado

Hi everyone!! I'm new and introduced myself a month or so ago. I'm in Fort Lupton. I finally got my first baby chicks yesterday. It took them about a month to come in. Love the place in Fort Collins that I got them. They have been awesome. So this is what I got yesterday 9 total. 3 americaunas, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 barred Plymouth Rock, 1 partridge Plymouth Rock, 1 silver laced Wyandotte , 1golden laced Wyandotte, & 1 blk australorp. I'm in love. So today I called and went back to get 3 more. I got one more golden laced Wyandotte, 1 buff Orpington and 1 speckled Sussex. What's really cool is the lady didn't charge me a dime for the 3 I got today. Random act of kindness is super cool. Does anyone have input about any of the ladies? They seem to be settling in ok. My step dad built me a brooder box. Will have to post a pic.

This is quite the chicken compound you have going on there. It kinda reminds me of the movie chicken run. It is very impressive. Keep up the good work. I still have to come down and see this sometime. It sure does help when you have the land to do this with. I moved from 1/3 of a acre to 5 acres last year. I dont know quite what to do with all of the space now. I am working on it though. I just expanded my run and coop. Now I can a few more chickens. I am finding out about chicken math. 8 hens +5 chicks at the moment. Maybe one more I should be good.
LOL. We LOVE "Chicken Run"
Thanks! We enjoy living here, and have lots of room.

We got the netting up; wow, what a job. It is a single piece, so we had to stretch it and fit it, and staple the edges down. We got the ramps built and wood screwed down around the bottom of the fence to assure that chicks can't escape.

Here is a picture of pens one and two:

Jere is a shot of the completed pens 3-6
Wendell- it always amazes me how much you can get done in a weekend. If DH and I tried to make something like this it would end up half done and somewhat resemble a storm zone.

ktmikal- Awwwwwwwww!! I always love seeing picks of chicks! I just got the last of my brooder supplies for this batch. I decided since I didn't know how long I would have some in the end it would be better to have more space than less. Target has 50 gal plastic tubs for $17 right now (at least the one by my house does) and there is a guy on CL selling an old horse trough, 100 gal, for $25. He said it leaks but would be perfect for chicks.
