Well busted my hump searching high and low for other Sebright options and didn't get much.
Callin the Co-Op to put in another order from Privett. Fingers\toes crossed.

THESE DATES ARE THE EXPECTED DAY OF ARRIVAL NO GUARANTEES ON DAY OR BIRDS RECIEVED THANK YOU!

I saw this posting on the Cochin thread but think its good information for parents & children interested in poultry.

Quoting Craig (BYC name Black Cochin Bantam):
"For the parents of kids who want to show poultry in 4H this year. I know that some states in the South have had their fairs already. But in the Midwest we are about 5 + months from county and State fairs. The time is NOW to find whatever birds your child would like to show this year. Each year I see kids buy chicks from the local feed store or farm store. I see some kids do a very good job raising these but then to not do well come show time. The kids just didn't have good enough stock genetically to compete. It is also true that some good birds are shown but they are just TOO YOUNG to do well. A 14 week old chick can not compete on equal ground with older birds. It is not easy to watch. Please do not wait until March or April to find decent stock. Never too early to start looking and it is amazing how quickly it becomes too late. I am not trying to sell anything. Hope this helps improve even 1 4H participants experience."

Another source for parents/kids is the scholarship program from Rocky Mountain Pheasant & Waterfowl Association. Part of their program provides youth with additional dollars to purchase higher quality stock. Contact them for more info http://rockymtnpheasant.com

Great information, thanks Shylee! Gives me a better way to plan for next year. I have no homebreds this year of course, but next year hope to have Speckled Sussex, Brown Leghorns, and Rhode Island Reds that should be nice.

I am getting very excited about my chicks coming next month and the following month :) I have Buttercup eggs reserved as well, perhaps sometime March or April, and I might have to try with a pair or trio of them if they grow out nicely - if I get enough of a hatch.

A gentleman came by this past weekend to buy some chicks and commented that his chicks from Cackle Hatchery seemed to be better quality than those from McMurray, so I placed an order with them to see what I think, although they have not given me a delivery date yet. Probably sometime next month. I guess I should say hopefully sometime next month :)

so this is totally off the chicken subject, but I just got through fixing the 1984 gas oven we have in our house. It came with the house when it was built actuallyt, as far as we know. she has always said that she will never get new appliances as long as I am around. I think this stove is on its last leg however. The ignitor went out for the oven so I robbed the one from the broiler and got it running again. she was not happy.

She had one all picked out and everything. poor girl. maybe we will get one anyway instead of getting another ignitor. This one is 50 degrees off anyway and cant be very efficient.
I have done this with our washing machine, drier, and an old refrigerator. she is a good sport about it though. I just figured I would share.

That's great that you got it working! Sounds like something I would do. If you need a back up I have a gas stove tht came with my house from... Around the same year that one is lol. It works I just upgraded. Free of course.

Your wife would really kill you then! One junker to another!

yes, that would be a sad day in my life. It would be a good thing that I built a large chicken coop, as I would be sleepingin there for a while. it definately needs replaced. there is no insulation in it at all as well as the heat deflectors are falling apart.
Hows the large incubator coming? Looking for anything speciffic, that I may have lying around?
