Colorado

I just put my Fritzle up on CL to see if I can't find him a home. Wish me luck. Hopefully he'll find a home with someone who can appreciate a little roo who just loves to be held and loved. Fingers crossed.

I've tried placing him with my chicken friends but they all have their own problems placing roosters. So I hope, I hope, I can find someone willing to give him a chance. I do think that someone with parrots would love to have a guy like this. He can love you back. :)

So I talked to the the guy selling the gqf cabinet incubator, I told him $150 and he is going to drive to meet me halfway. Ill have it on Saturday!! He said it comes with all kinds of accessories. Trays for quail and trays for chickens.

I'm picking up some shipped eggs today and am going to be hatching at altitude...what is the general consensus-increase humidity? No turning for first few days of hatch? Seems most experience the big losses at the end of the hatch...I'm at 8000' . I don't have huge expectations...I'm setting 12 eggs and would love to have 3 or 4 hatch...

I just did this. Out of 22 eggs 5 hatched. Most drowned from too high a humidity. I was holding in the low sixties through most of the incubation. I am trying again with local eggs but I am targeting 42% humidity this time.

Definently keep the humidity down.

With turning, let the eggs rest at room temp for at least 12 hours before putting them in the incubator and don't turn them for at least 4 days. Answers for this vary, some say up to ten days. Just candle at 4 to see what is going on with the air sacs. If they are rolling around still or look generally messed up give them a few more days. If everything seems firmly attached go ahead and plug in the turner.
