The three in the corner on the upper left are the three I hatched. They are obviously too good for these new chicks!

I now have:
2 Welsummer
2 cuckoo Marans
1 black copper Marans
2 gold star
1 olive egger
3 Araucana/Americana

Yep, we'll be there. Weather may cooperate in the 50s.
Here's a recommendation for both readers & poultry fans: Buddy-How a Rooster made me a better Family man by Brian McGrory. Good story about a man whose significant other is a veterinarian and what happens as he becomes a step parent to teenage girls & a white Wyandotte roo. Some parts made me laugh out loud!

I can't have boys, other wise I would totally get a roo from you! Are you sure elizabeth is getting the frizzle polish, I didn't see it on their list?
Not sure about hatcheries, after my experience last time. I still haven't found any modern game bantams yet.

They'll have some at elizabeth country corner (or kiowa) this season. If you want a boy, I have one or two I'd be willing to sell, but I'm keeping any girls I get (if any of them turn out to be girls). I know they're available through Ideal as well, but I'm not sure about the other hatcheries.

air tight isn't a good thing. it traps the ammonia, and that is bad for the birds. because ammonia rises above the air, you'll want a few vents as high up as you can get them so it can escape. in our converted shed, the windows aren't high enough to allow for the ammonia to escape, so we added vents up in the peaks of the side.

Yeah that's why I'm going to put the vents up top along with windows. I was kind of thinking of using the floor type vents, and then I can open and close them as needed. I just don't think it would be "pretty." I'm such a girl!

I tried to post an ad for our EE hatching eggs for sale on here, but the moderators edited the ad, so that's what happened.
whoops.

I would have bought those if I could have.
I just bought 3 EE from Jax's and tucked them under my broody hen. She is outside in a small pen alone with the chicks. She shoved them right under her and growled at me. She has always let me touch her and move the fake eggs I put under her. The minute I put the chicks down she got aggressive. I hope they are all ok outside. I think if I check on the chicks I'll have to use leather gloves. I don't think Mamma Broody will let me near. She had five fake eggs under her and I was only able to grab two before she got aggressive with me. It sort of freaked me out to see her go mental so quickly.
I gave the chicks some water and they ate some starter before I put them out with the broody. Was that a mistake? The people at Jax said the chicks were two days old, that they had to be two days for travel. I am worried the chicks will wander off looking for food.
Everything I read says if the broody takes them they will be ok...is that right?
