Colorado

Oh that does sound fun! I think were going to try to come to yours depending on how our day goes (I have a young daughter who doesn't like car rides LOL) Otherwise if I end up with a rooster within my chicks ill go to one of those swaps because they are right by my house.
We are supposed to have other kids there, and lots of games for them to play. Like "pin the head on the chicken, a bean bag toss, chicken sack races, egg races, etc. It should be fun!

I will help you process them at my place. How old are they?

I really appreciate the offer!
They're only six weeks old now, so it'll be a while. I'm in town where we're not allowed to have roos, but from what I've read they don't start crowing until four months or later. These are pretty small, they may not be good meat birds:

I'm happy to pay for processing :)

Hey all you Colorado chicken raisers... do any of you know where I can get my meat birds processes. There use to be a place up in Nunn but it seams to have closed down.... Any info would be great!!

I found this website that might be helpful. We have purchased meat at Arapahoe Meat Co in Lafayette but this might be a bit far for you. They will process your meat as well as sell.

Arapahoe doesn't do birds. I don't know of any processors who do birds for the public. I work at the Boulder's Farmers Market and I now the people who sell birds there only process their own.
I think your best bet it to hook up with Wendell and roll up your sleeves and learn how to process your own birds with his help and equipment.
How much do you charge a bird with help Wendell?

That is good to know. I wasn't sure if they did birds. Thanks for the info.

Even small birds can be soup and if you smoke the birds first, they really make good soup. Yeah, yeah, I know what you are thinking! LOL

They look yummy.....

No charge. I'm just helping you learn how to do it.....and assisting......They should be REALLY tasty in two months. at 16 weeks they will be OK for a fryer, but not very big. They will still be tender and have great flavor.

Great we find an area we love, new houses on 1.5+ acres, near to my husbands work. Get ready to make an offer and find out that they only allow cat or dog and only 2. What is the reason of 1.5 acres if you can't have animals. I feel awful I would sacrifice my girls (even though I love them) to give my husband everything he wants but it would make him miserable knowing I gave them up. Is it wrong of me to expect my relator to look in to zoning before we get to the making an offer stage, I called the city and found this out.

i gave my 7 to 10 week olds a hotdog snak an couple weeks ago, they loved it. we cooked them first tho. this list was from a site called tillys coop... or something like that. i should have gotten the link but she had links to BYC for referrances. I'll have to look for it.
O.K. this one stuck with me all day. Against my own will I went in the freezer and found a 6 month old pack of hot dogs and checked the label. The main ingredient is chicken
