I received my dozen "blue breeds" eggs from MyPet Chicken today. This is what I received:

Blue Splash Marans - 5
Blue Andalusians - 2
Blue Ameraucana - 3
Blue Orpingtons - 3

These are the "Blue Breed" eggs.

Yes, if you add them up, we received 13 eggs. They must send a baker's dozen! I was kind of bummed that I didn't get any BLRW. That is what I was really after. Oh well, these will be fun. It's going to be a hard 24 hours waiting on the eggs to rest before I fire up the incubator again! I have another dozen eggs going in with them. I have a dozen eggs from a full blood Black Copper X Olive Egger, Blue Copper Rooster X Blue Copper or Americauna, and Black Copper X Americauna or Olive Egger.

These are the barnyard maran eggs.

I have 16 chicks that are a few days old plus these 25 eggs. If I can get another successful hatch of 12-16 chicks I will have a bunch of chickens and only room for 10. Would anyone be interested in any roos that might come of this series?
Nice looking eggs!

I will post pics when I get home but Logan was born at 0307 this morning. My water broke around 1030 last night and he DH about lost his mind with getting me to the car. I went from random little contractions every 20 or 30 minutes to strong ones every 3 in a blink.

We are still in the hospital and Logan and I are doing great. Little guy is exhausted and just wants to sleep so far.

I am loving watching the snow from our room.

I am so happy for you and your DH. Blessings on your new family.

Disclaimer: This is only my second spring with chicks and I tend to be a no nonsense, how did they do it 50 years ago kinda gal. That said, let me tell you what I found in the coop (where my chicks are raised) last night. I do not disregard all advice and common sense, so I have provided my now 4 week old chicks with a heat lamp. I have noticed over the last week or so that my gals seldom lay directly under the heat lamp (ground temp has been about 70) but have moved away from it. This morning about 5 am I peeked into the coop to see how they were handling the cold and found them all sleeping on a perch I had set up that is about 6 feet from the heat lamp. I guess that means I can safely take it out as they don't even like to be around it anymore? LOL

O.K. this one stuck with me all day. Against my own will I went in the freezer and found a 6 month old pack of hot dogs and checked the label. The main ingredient is chicken

now i am worried this will be the first thing i check when i get home. mir family does not eat pork, MSG, DSG, and lots of othe stuff. i know the beef dogs mix pork and chicken meet into them, i heard turkey dogs did not have anything extra mixed in them so i thought they will be good for chickens... i am not at home so i can see wich brand we have at the moment. i guess i am not use to have a variety in the haus so we are not use to say wich type we have. but to be on the safe side i had to make sure so i looked it up.
