Colorado

I am so stressed out. I keep checking the news. This is all too soon from last summer. It saved our butts that friends took our chickens the day before the fire came over the ridge. Evacuating is hard enough with kids and pets, so thankful my girls weren't part of the action. So scary, I so don't want to go through the stress of another fire again.

I have evac instructions posted inside the door of my coop, in case i am working (an hour away) and we ever get a call to evac. Instructions include which chicks go in what kennel, and who gets paired together.
Just another part of being prepared!- I hope we would never need to use it

Part of the reason we have our chickens trained to come when we call is because of the fires, and the need to sometimes round them up quickly. I couldn't imagine running around an acre or more trying to collect twenty chickens....

I fear every having to catch Zoe, that girl not only can run but she is smart. She knows when we are trying to coral her and what direction we want her to go. She will run under my legs if she must.
