Colorado

Another Coloradan checking in... in Elbert County, rural area. We have (on 2 little acres): 3 nigerian dwarf goats, 1 nubian goat, 14 chickens, 1 hubby and 1 14-yr-old autistic child. Oh, and me!

Because of this ridiculous weather, I've cooped up the goats (night-time only) in a spare chicken coop, and the chickens are in the workshop. At least they are all out of the wind and snow.

I've ordered 10 bantam blue silkies and 15 bantam easter eggers (all day-olds) for delivery in February. So excited! I could talk chickens to anyone any time so as a new member, please feel free to e-mail or message me! I'm addicted to my girls!

Question: I do have 2 roosters but am wondering if they're doing their job. If anyone has room in their incubator for a few eggs, I'd like to give them to you to hatch to see. I'll take the chicks afterwards but just wanna find out if they are fertile. Thanks!

ach, I would love some Bourbons! But, we are not set up/ready for turkey's yet. However, I am still aware you have them and will be bugging you for them in the future!

Let me know when you're ready to go because we're officially turkey breeders now and we'd be glad to help you get started.

New here checking in...my son is doing poultry in 4H for his second year and I have caught the bug. We are finishing up our chicken coop and hope to increase our flock this Spring. We bought Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks from Eric Fulenwider last year from a Craigslist add. We are really happy with this breed...seems to be very cold hardy and just stopped laying a few weeks ago. We only have a very small coop right now, so I'm sure the cold is getting to them; no room for a light bulb. Can't wait to move in to the new coop! Would love to get maybe some Lavender Orpington, Blue Cochin, more Silver Laced Wyandotte, Silver Laced Cochin would be really cool, too! I can see I am going to get pulled into this poultry stuff!!

We also adopted 2 white ringneck doves from the animal shelter here in Colorado Springs. If anyone has any information about breeding/banding I would love to know. We keep taking the eggs away because I do not know if I am supposed to register them, but I do know they need to be banded as babies and I don't know where to get the right bands or find out info on the banded pair that I have. Some one just surrendered them to the shelter and they couldn't really help me with any information.

Ooooh, I would also love to expand into beautiful peafowl and fancy pheasants, but don't tell my DH; he's not going to want to build anymore enclosures
